So I have had 0 problems in any other venue but I am a huge failure at SJR. I usually use soft plastics and on other venues I can average 350-400in of fish per 1/2 hour. On SJR my best is 66in in 30min out of 10+ tries. I can find the fish but the same things that work elsewhere leaves them uninterested or at best making a short chase. Upside is I have bought about every lure at this point just hoping to get something to work Any particular tips on guar and chanel cats would certainly help alot. I have tried the pro tip lure choice for each and had zero interest. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give me some tips!
(See attched photos to see landmarks to find this spot) I know that feeling. Took me at least 5 tries searching only to find ok spots but nothing like this honey hole. Drive your boat in a straight line from starting dock to other side of Saint George River and when you near the shoreline turn right and look for the big tree to the right of foliage and lily pads as shown in picture attached. Cast near the tree to the left of lily pads till you see the spawn of fish and have at it. I use a 2.5 3in or 3.5in Rat-L-Trap Gizzard Shad for bass and caught legendary fish there. 3.5 in catches the bigger bass. Smaller ones catch more variety and average size weighing fish. Other baits work well when you need to catch multiple species and such, but it you're looking for weight, that 3.5 is my go to online as well. Hope this helps.
Thanks! Took me 20 min to find but on the second go I headed straight there. Caught mostly guar, including 4 trophies on the 3" gizzard shad (Which was perfect for a length comp). Switched it up once I was sure to win and did better on the bass with a Carolina rigged cristie craw, twitch retrieval, including one trophy. For anyone after, here is a ss of the map location. All hail to Schneckdawg75 for the spot!! Sorry for the phone pics of the TV but I'm on xbox and was too lazy to do it better
Did you find any spots yet? Especially for the pro challenge for lenghth? I just got lucky on the bass weight challenge after about 15-20 tries.
I had decent luck here, but the sweet spot is fairly narrow. My first trip scored me almost 400 inches. Second time went very poorly. The third trip I found the sweet spot again with about 5 minutes left and went from being skunked to first using crawfish. It's a very YMMV.
