Is there a way to change the speedometer and distance settings to display data in kilometers instead of miles? My settings are in miles and I am more used to kilometers. I'm talking about what is displayed on the HUD (I think that's what it's called). My game is set in English and I bought it in France in 2014.
The Units are set on a Route level. British and American routes will use MPH/Miles and European/Rest of World routes are typically KM/H/Kilometers. So short of editing the Tracks.Bin files for each route, there is no direct way to change the units.
What you see on the Speedo is defined by the Route not the Train. On the old Test Track that I use for trying new stock or mods it always shows Miles. If I drive a European loco the Speedo shows Kmh but the F3 HUD shows the line speeds in Mph. In the F3 HUD the Track Speed says the Maximum is 25mph and I'm travelling at 22.2 MPH The Loco Speedo says I'm travelling at 35kmh What locos on your machine are Not showing the Correct type of speed irrespective of the route?
Speed units are defined in the route's trackrules. Can't see any issue. The Javelin correctly switches to km/h when TVM is active.
Are you assuming that because the game settings are English then all the routes must show MPH? Next time you spot a European loco showing the Speedo different to the HUD post a picture.
