apparently the JustTrains installer doesn’t work on Mac. is there a work around to this? I’m currently running TSC on my Mac through Crossover.
Presumably you just need the files and folders that the installer places in your RailWorks folder. I haven't tested the following but I think that it would likely work: • Install some virtualisation software on your Mac if you don't have this already; VirtualBox is free: https://www.virtualbox.org/ • Get a Windows ISO from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10iso • Install Windows in VirtualBox and don't worry about Windows Activation as the virtual machine is just a temporary part of this process • Install Steam in the new Windows virtual machine • Install Train Simulator Classic through Steam in the Virtual Machine. preferably without any of your DLC checked as it is unlikely that Train Simulator Classic would work in the virtual machine anyway. • Run the JustTrains installer in your windows virtual machine and use Windows Explorer to identify files by time stamp placed into the RailWorks folder then copy those out of the virtual machine, and place them in the same locations in your Crossover C Drive. ...another way that might be easier is if you use the folder sharing features of the virtualisation features and map the Crossover steam library into the Windows virtual machine so that Steam can use that installation directly; then when you installe a JustTrains add-on in the Windows virtual machine its files would be placed into the Crossover setup and should then be ready to play on the Mac with Windows shutdown. This is the option that would be most ideal. Let me know how you get on, or if you get stuck anywhere. Good luck!
Basically what's said above, use a VM to install it and transfer files then. Or contact JT. The installer uses MS Edge technology for JT account authentication.
or if you have an Intel based Mac you can run windows through bootcamp. However, you would need to reboot every time you want to change operating systems
