In the future, recording sounds for modern trains is going to become much harder as their model topography optimises - built out from non-magnetic, non-ferrous alloys. With the editing techniques I will show you in the following video, anybody will be able to produce good clips from the poorest and most amateur of recordings or videos.

This thread is targeted at Dovetail Games and Rivet Games for the most part as it holds educational value. After watching this tutorial, the learning outcomes include:
    • How to use the Paulstretch plugin to extend a very short sample for editing
    • How the spectrogram describes your sound
    • How to use the spectrogram to isolate the signal of interest
    • How to locate and isolate frequency harmonics for the signal
    • How to use the Paulstretch plugin to capture, extend, and flatten the pitch of departing traction sounds
    • How to use crossfading and Paulstretch together to loop fly-by rolling sounds of long and fast trains
    • How to use Paulstretch to enhance existing TSW3 sounds
    • How to crystalise existing TSW3 sounds
    • How to synthesise sounds in Audacity using YouTube videos as a reference
From here onwards, the audio editor or engineer will now always be empowered to create the best audio where it may not have previously been available. This works well for foreign locomotives where access is difficult and costly to arrange, such as the DB BR 186. But these new skills can also be applied for units that are hard to record locally, such as the ScR Class 385.

Recording or no recording, build up some new skills now and make indistinguishable quality sounds with whatever resources you have currently.

ItsYa165, your sound mods are the best available for uk stock in tsw when it comes to complete replacement.

Is there any chance for a class 385 sound mod? Rivet screwed it in a way, they didnt even add flange sounds. And the sounds which should represent a cl.385.., nothing to add at this point which hasnt said already.

I mean i like the announcement idea, also obvious that there is no licence for the real type of voice etc, but train sounds should have priority over pianos, elevators and all that fancy stuff.
Get the train done in the first place, then the gimmicks of the route.
