Hello, sorry if this is an easy question to answer. So I just got TSW 2 through Game Pass. I was driving the London Underground train and when I got to the station it said I needed to look out the window before opening the doors, but I couldn't't figure out how to do it.

So how can I look out the window from the cab? I am on PC and use the keyboard and mouse.
    Thanks

Right arrow should get you out the engineer's side. Also the 3 key puts you outside in roam, one press you are by the locomotives and the second press puts you at the back of your train. To get back inside use the 1 key.

The tutorials say something like "Check the platform before opening the doors" but this isn't really necessary so you can happily dispense with it

Much of what what the tutorials tells you to do is padding.

left and right arrows cycle through some fixed camera views which can be useful including looking out of both sides of the cab windows.

True and they can get to be very tedious, all that looking up, down, left and right for instance.
And I wonder how many new players wear their shoes out walking miles to throw switches and couple/uncouple consists before they discover the free camera?

I learned long ago to skip the introductory tutorial. The ones in Journey mode can be partially useful as they tend to show where the obscure knobs and switches are to get the traction moving, rather than jumping into a timetable or scenario and sit there like a lemon wondering why you’re not going anywhere.

Although I don't completely agree with your statement about padding, I do find that tutorials usually do not contain enough information, especially regarding safety systems and signals, but also thorough coverage of all controls right down to operating wipers, cab windows, and seat controls (where those exist, of course).

Simply put, there need to be two (or more) tutorials: beginner and advanced, plus (certainly in Germany) another one on safety and signaling systems etc. Beginner is what we have now. Advanced is as LastTrainToClarksville describes- every knob, switch and button.
