Hi everyone I recently invested in RW Enhancer 2 , mainly to see if I could get Quick Drive scenarios working. (Now that you can do real-time weather and intermediate station stops.) Been through the 28 routes I own, and only 9 have AI included in Quick Drive, some of which spawn very questionable choices of AI services. (Deltics and voyagers spawing in the same drive!) So have picked Great Western Mainline (Paddington to Oxford) to start programming a realistic quick drive from the 1990s mobdro. I have watched Matts quick drive creation video that has got me off in the right direction. I believe the AI is picked depending on the AI Category picked. (Fast Commuter/ passenger/ international etc). I have found an empty category called Preserved, and put 10 consists that would appear on the fast line from the 1990s (class 47 / 50 / HST). I now would like to add AI on the slow line (DMU / Freight etc) so assume I need to find another empty consists category … but I can’t find one. Does anyone please know if it’s possible to change and reallocate the category each consists sit in? (I do have TS tools if that is an option)
This information is stored in the PreLoad files. You can edit them with TSTools. Just locate the Asset folder of the according stock, open the "PreLoad" folder and edit the consist information. Example from DonnerPass:
For this particular route which fairly uniquely has a huge load of AI consists allocated you would probably be quicker starting with a clean slate either by cloning the route or by changing the date of your scenario and the consists you wish to use to 2052. This means none of the existing preload consists will show up and you can use whatever category you want. The path which I use to edit consist allocation in RW Tools which I assume has the same layout as TS Tools is Route Building Tools Check QD Consists and Fragments Then under Assets highlight for instance Kuju Rail Simulator Preload OxfoPadd Then click Check all QD Consists Highlight the consist you wish to change and click Edit selected consist. You then get a easy menu to change the date and type of the consist as well as the option of adding it to other routes which you have installed. Save and exit. This menu also allows you to add any preloaded 3rd party dlc consists you own to use as AI in any route without having to build your own custom consists.
Your starting in exactly the same position I did for setting up Quick Drive Scenarios - and have picked exactly the same route that I started my QD set up learning curve. I would strongly recommend not changing the dates for existing consists using RW tools. It will take for ever (I have over 2000 consists) and you could possibly stop the AI working correctly on the routes that they are originally intended too. Instead, change the route date for the QD scenario for the era you want to drive. I have 2052 set up for Modern day GWR Green (Set Consists as 2051-2053 in RWE2) And then 2062 set up for Inter City Swallow / Blue of the late 80's. (Set Consists as 2061-2063 in RWE2) Create new consists in RWE2, that way you will be in control of what appears.(you can right click to create a new consist based on an existing consist in content explorer in RWE2) For GWR Paddington route I have the following consists, Fast Line - Passenger Intercity Group (Modern HST, Class 800's)(1980's HST,Class 47,50) Slow Line - Passenger Regional (Modern Class 150/158/166) (1980's DMU 101) Slow Line - Passenger Freight Coal (Class 66/67/70) (1980s Class 20,31,56,59) Slow Line - (light engine) - Freight Gravel (as above) Steam (for Didcot Museum) - Preserved. (Steam loco) I also flew down the route and add a lot more AI markers - I do it every 3/4 signals with AI coming towards me, alternating on the slow / fast lines (so they don't always appear together). Blocking AI is set at 4 evenly spaced points down the route, with a 25% chance of spawning, so some runs will be clear, some could be yellows / reds all the way). Yes it takes a lot of setting up, but once done you can drive in two different eras, with totally unpredictable AI, plus the AI is then set up if you wanted to use on another route (say Western Mainlines Penz to Padd once you have successfully tested on GWR Oxford Padd).
To clarify my previous advice if you were changing the date you would only need to change the end date on the consists you wish to use not on every item in your library. Its not a method I have personally used as most routes only have at most 2 or 3 preload categories and I find it quicker to use preloaded 3rd party consists with a couple of clicks thru the tools menu rather than having to build new consists.
