I think the QD selection screen has some shortcomings when I try to create a consist

It is possible to have the Wagon category split into:
Carriages for passenger carrying vehicles,
Wagons for freight carrying vehicles,
Tender for steam locomotive tenders,

all the above are now lumped together, while they are correctly defined in their bin files when the creator has used the blueprint editor properly
