    Hi all

Can anyone explain how this works please. I've turned the switch on to the left. I can see it activating around Munchen, how do you actually use it? With it being different to the ICE3, I don't know how to let the train automatically modulate the speed. Does the throttle need to be in a certain place? Can anyone advise please?

It's only a safety system and it will tell you when you really should start braking. Without AFB it does not automate anything and it is similar to TVM in the Class 395, where you also need to do it all by yourself.

Thanks Rudolf - This had been my approach but wasn't sure if I was missing a trick.

LZB != AFB. There are lots of trains having LZB but no AFB equipped. LZB does not stand for an automatic train control, it is just a in-cab signalling system and does not need AFB to work. AFB works on top of it when present and even then, you as the driver have to do manual braking when needed/advised, even if AFB could do it for you (especially braking to a stop).

One thing else to note is that once you reach the LZB ende territory just after Munchen Laim (headed towards Munchen Pasing), you need to push the PZB release button to acknowledge that you are aware of LZB territory ending.
