I'm considering buying Preston-Carlisle on Steam, but performance on TSW is inconsistent, so I wanted to check if I can expect Preston-Carlisle to run smoothly or suffer from stutters before I make my purchase.
I'm on PC and it runs smoothly for me, I find few routes seem to stutter much now certainly not to the extent where it was particularly noticeable so something seems to have improved since TSW5. I think mine is only a mid range PC so nothing special. Funnily the only time I have seen a blurry texture was the numbers on the class 47 and that soon righted itself. But of course it might not be the same on yours.
It is a very detailed route, so you will notice the stuttering a lot the first run because shaders will be compiled as you drive and, as this is a fast route, you will be loading tiles and compiling every few seconds. If you have a reasonable hardware it wont be too bad after all the shaders are cached.
Its actually not to bad on my series x theres the odd stutter but nothing major i would definetely recommend its a brilliant route
I bought it and the route and loco are pretty awesome. First run was quite a lot of stuttering though, but thankfully the second run ran notably better. Not stutter-free, but good enough to be enjoyable. Thanks for the help, people!
It would be nice if you told us your PC specs. No good me saying it runs great on a 4080 with 32GB DDR5 RAM, if you have a 2080 with 16GB DDR4 RAM.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, 16GB RAM (3600MHz, I think that's DDR4 if I understand Google's AI correctly), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Should be a decent machine, bought it not too long ago and it costed a fair bit. Runs any other games fine.
The video card is 3 years old and has only 8GB of VRAM. The processor is 5 years old and only 16 GB of memory. In fact, this is a rather weak setup for TSW. The game really prefers fast processors and lots of memory (32GB RAM) and 16GB VRAM due to its less-than-stellar optimization.
