The new HUD has taken some getting used to, however I now quite like it. That said, the HUD seems to vary depending on what stock you're driving. This makes it needlessly confusing, and doesn't help with consistency. I can't imagine it helps developers either, as it must be a mess when everything is different... A few things: - Safety devices - These seem to vary by stock. Sometimes SIFA shows, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the icons are in different order. I'm aware that "Safety Systems" is on the roadmap, so please can the time be taken to implement this the same across the board? - Brake Dials - On the 483 these are on the right hand side of the HUD. Why? Nobody knows. It just makes it awkward, as now you're looking in a different place. - Throttle Position - Most stock uses numbers (including the Bakerloo stock), however the 483 uses letters. They look wrong and don't fix the box well. It just makes it messy. Please just use numbers consistently. - Speed Dial - Seems to be the most random increments. Whilst one size doesn't fit all, the increments and maximum speed should match the in cab dials... A few improvements to consistency will help a great deal...
I like the brake dials on the right as they are used less. Think all the safety alerts should be on the left hand side so they are easier to catch your eye.
You simply can't have a HUD that fits all trains. It would cover the whole screen with most parts not used. I, as a developer, like the fact, that we can change the HUD to the trains needs. A always the same HUD would be useles for most trains. It would show only the bits that are not really specific train related.
Entirely get that not everything needs to be shown, and that's not the point I'm trying to make. But having the brake dials on the left sometimes, and the right on other occasions serves no purpose except make things harder for users.
