Since the last game update the speedometer in the standard HUD turns yellow at the speed limit instead of above it. Example - Speed limit is 60 km/h - speedometer turns yellow as soon as your speed reaches 60 km/h and not at 61 km/h as it has always done in the past. This is very disconcerting and gives the impression you are speeding when you are not.
I always make a point of treating the speed limit as an absolute to stay below, as opposed to a target to reach, so hadn't noticed, however I would assume this is closer to how it's intended? Is it penalising you with the AP penalty for fractions of 1mph above the limit?
Even on PC and XB when I was at the posted speed limit, I was dinged for overspeeding, and this was in TSW3, 4 & 5, It looks like this may be the new way to see when ya are spe
It could simply be that a visual bug was that it previously NOT communicating clearly that anything over the limit is speeding, and the visual bug has been corrected?
Doing 90 mph when the speed limit is 90 mph is not speeding. 91 mph is speeding and that’s when the colour should change. I don’t think it has changed the scoring at all it is just the speedometer is changing colour too soon. This won’t have been intentional, it’ll be because they’ve been tinkering with it again for something else, probably how it behaves for the Dutch safety system. It’s happened before. It needs to be put back as it was.
Yeah, that could have been, I did not think of that, Or what if? A warning indicator that you are about to overspeed, but mention of it was made, and this is a test "?" to see what we all say, it's just the way I think sometimes
I quite often get this with the Javelin on SEHS, always when I'm at the speed limit. It's as if it thinks 30.1 is over the limit, rather than 31.
I mean, it is. "30.anything that isn't 0" is over the limit of 30, to be nitpicky. And it's pretty damn hard to make a real (or simulated) train go a true "30.0". I guess what's weird suddenly is that it seems the yellowing happens at different points depending on whether it's caused by going over: - the line speed: actually happens slightly above going "30", and so does the point where your score gets hit as well - a speed-suggesting security system like LZB: in which case the mere appearance of the "30" is now immediately cause for yellow, and wasn't before this update. For the record, I'm fine with either behaviour, either a bit of leeway or considering the pure number the limit and not any decimal over. Either has reasons going for it, what's silly is the difference in behaviour we have rn. (you can test it, going exact line speed with a german loco with LZB on the route forced on via mods, if you keep flipping the switch that activates the loco LZB it goes yellow-white nonstop)
Weird, I drove two services on BCC yesterday evening, and old HUD speedometer only turned yellow when I crossed the speed limit. When driving exactly on the speedlimit, the meter stayed white as it is supposed to.
I think it only occurs on certain trains/routes, like the ones that have cab signalling. After reporting this here I drove some different trains where the HUD behaved as normal. When thinking back to what I had driven where the HUD goes yellow on the speed limit (as reported here) they were all trains with some kind of cab signalling.
