You can't take a train to alot of railroad museums in the US, especially since some of them are located in the middle of nowhere. The California State Railroad Museum is the only one I can think of ATM that is within reasonable walking distance of one.
That seems even wronger. Looked up the California one, and my bucket list trip on the Coast Starlight would take me right by there if I ever make it, so Sacramento might be worth a stop.
