Just tested the Formation designer beta... and I don't think that that's what they meant when saying; when running a steam loco a tender is required. Anyway pretty good update, would give it a 10/10.
it would be a nice feature if the game told you if some coaches worked with lets say loco+control cab configuration - I tried Taurus + dosto coach + 3 IC coaches + dosto control car, and I could do some basic things, but couldnt get power to the throttle... so, it would be nice if it told me those werent compatible in game (in real life, I have seen 1144 + Wiesel CityShuttle dosto + CityShuttle coaches + Wiesel dosto control car, so such weird consists definitely work IRL)
did you try that with the BR182 in db red (rapid transit DLC) and use its cab car? Trying to work out if that's because the coaches in the middle aren't relaying the signal or if the choice of loco + cab car is where the incompatibility is. Matt.
yes I tried it with that one since both of my custom liveries are based on Rapid Transit Taurus... if I play from the Taurus end, it works just fine... if from the dosto cab, I can raise/lower pantograph, open/close MCB, open/close doors... and sometimes it even shows HS Ein, but isnt showing voltage and doesnt feed power to the throttle... tried many things, even ZWS switch in Taurus and then trying the cab, same result I am guessing the IC coaches are blocking sth, not sure sth like this: but I used Taurus, DB dosto, IC coaches and DB dosto cab car (tried even multiple models, didnt work with any of them)... I have seen such a consist on the Wien-Westbahnhof - Neulengbach/St. Polten line and while it looked funky, I kinda dig it so I wanted to recreate that, but until we get CityShuttle stuff and Wiesel dostos in-game, this was closest I could get
Technically the loco will run without a tender. That's how they operate them on test rigs. But you won't be able to put more coal in the firebox or water in the boiler, and the crew might get wary of falling off the backā¦
Have a look between coaches to see what cables/hoses are connected. If the MU/communication cables are not there then it means DTG didn't set them up to recognise eachother. This is what happens when you don't plan ahead. Since originally I guess DTG never envisioned that wagons from different DLCs would ever be coupled together.
