OK, so I posted a YT video a couple of hours ago, of an Orchestra cover of Metallica, I have received a copyright claim from; and I quote: "Latin AutorPerf, UNIAO BRASILEIRA DE EDITORAS DE MUSICA - UBEM, LatinAutor - UMPG, Tangible Medium Publishing" And usually I wouldn't make a big deal out of a copyright claim every channel runs into it at least once. But I thought this was extremely bizarre and out of the ordinary. So I did my research and I can officially conclude it is a scammer who copyrights every video they come to without their audio even being in the video. Ask anyone who has encountered this. However I am on the other hand considering disputing the claim however I feel that may lead to a strike, as we know: scammers have no limits. Even if I get one single strike I am not allowed to upload for 90 days which I cannot be doing with, especially as we enter into the period of Rail200. Please let me know what I should as I feel no matter what I do it's going to lead to sometype of inevitable disaster somehow.
As far as I know, disputing a charge requires you to hand over your personal information over to the strike(e) in case a court case is required. While it isn't likely, it still leaves the door open to the individual using the information for doxxing or malicious purposes. Unless the video is extremely important, I personally wouldn't dispute it unless you're ready to face alot of turmoil.
I've seen this happen to quite a few streamers I watch on YouTube, and yeah, it's total BS. I would personally try disputing the claim through YouTube, backing up with the evidence you've uncovered of the claimant being sketchy as best you can. At the same time though, don't waste too much time on it. If you feel it's really not going anywhere then it might be easier to just pull or mute the video.
OK quick update, video has been taken down, not by choice, I have received a copyright strike unfortunately. It is surprising it took this long. Especially as I had uploads planned gor the whole weekend. Surprisingly it wasn't the original copyright claimant, however the Rock Orchestra themselves.
