So I saw the “latest offer” of the GWR 4200/5205/7200 2-8-0T pack and there’s a bugged looking price and I came buy it even if I wanted to haha. Does anyone else see this?
This is a relief. I was expecting it might be a case of publishing and going home for the day. On the Steam boards the Victory Works developer said he planned on "verbally kicking their a**es tomorrow morning after which it should be available". Being the kind of person I am, I asked if tickets are available for this.
Isn’t it recommended to buy in the normal Steam store on their website, and not within TS because it’s rather buggy?
Yet you more often than not get this warning regarding Marketplace content on Steam.. Always wondered why that is, I never have though, always got in Steam with (afaik) no adverse effects.
I believe they ask you to do this as in-game there is an icon that shows if you own or don't own the required pack. What stories?
Also works when looking at the Steam store on their website. If you are logged in, you can see if the icon telling you items are in your library.
Oh, you're talking about Marketplace items. If you see it available in-game, you're probably good to just purchase that same item directly on Steam. But you can also check for the requirement in your "Manage DLC" section on the Steam game page in your client. If you are certain you have the requirements, go ahead and buy it, but note that you could mistakenly buy a wrong item if you're not careful. Met Line doesn't work on Steam. Just Trains seems to have a phobia with Steam conversions, and those that do work often have missing content that is available on their site. For instance, Totham includes scenarios for the Class 153 that do not make it to Steam because the Class 153 is not available on Steam. (At this point, if it ever shows up, those three scenarios would probably have to be added to that DLC.) Meanwhile, I got a bundle with both the route and loco at Just Trains for $20 USD during a sale. Meanwhile, Cornish on Steam has an extension version for Western Mainlines, which is ONLY on the JT site after first extending to Plymouth on the South Devon Main Line. At that point, you can add that version of Cornish and drive from Penzance to Oxford direct, or to London Paddington, or even to Cardiff. Be prepared to be stiff unless you get up and stretch during the drive, it can take hours.
The problem with third party DLC on Steam is the product might get updated by the makers but DTG/Steam are very slow in putting the upgrade out to the people who have bought it. The New Zealand route has an update from the makers and they have put it on their website whilst it gets uploaded to Steam
