    Hello. Newbie here.
I finally managed to drive this scenario with a gold score. However, the KS signal system eludes me in some points. Please no guesses, If you have the answer please deliver. I don't keep score on guesses. Guesses generate confusion.

Some signals have an extra board above the signal showing the actual line speed beyond this signal (as far as I understand). Some (forward) signals have a board beneath showing the expected line speed announced ahead, combined with a blinking green light announcing a speed reduction.

But some signals on this line have an extra board below the anticipated speed board (The lowest board with lamps able to show letters), and on my run they show "R", "N", and "P". If I'm not delusional I think I have seen "L", but that might be a false memory. "P" might be stop for passenger boarding/exiting or end of run. Don't know. It's shown before the last station. What does this lowest dynamic board show? Link to a page that explains it so I can educate myself? What does "R", "N" and "P" mean?

If you let us know which route you are driving others could have a look.

Normally the extra letter is to tell the drive which route the train is taking at a Junction
The P, R and N would be place names and the Yellow N is a Pre-warning the driver is going towards - ?Neustadt?
If the driver is not supposed to take that route he would have time to stop before the signal with the White letter.

Riesa to Dresden. It's a career scenario. Been thinking in the same line as your answer, but I want to know. Driving trains and not understand the signaling is not a good combination.

Railway signals in Germany - Wikipedia Link points at Zs2 and Zs2v. (Zs for ZusatzSignal = additional signal).
    TF-Ausbildung.de - Zs-Signale / Zs 2
It is not included in the manual. The easiest to verify is to check whether it matches the name of a place ahead.

Apart from Anfang-Ende (which is static, meaning beginning and end) I don't know about any letters included in (dynamic) signaling.

Thanks all. There's a shitload of stations beginning with the same letter. No documentation, no explanation what so ever. Is this game [EDIT - Jan - Language]? Beginning to think this is a shoddy [EDIT - Jan - Language] game with weak efforts just to sell poorly engineered add-ons. Disappointed. Sub-par. I'll play what I got and that's the end of it. D I S A P O I N T E D. Would I recommend this game to someone else? Hell no. This was probably my worst buy ever.

    That escalated quickly. Chill down!!!

Those are destination boards, and in real life they do matter as it tells the driver if you are being redirected, or if your pathing is correct. And so they are included in TS as well. But really they have no importance in TS since there wont be alternate routes available in the map. So included for the signals to look correct. And after all, we want them to be as close to real life as possible.

triznya.andras Anfang/ende signals are never used on the destination boards.

Why isn't it explained/where is this explained? How do I know? Word of mouth? Roaming message boards?
You´re really helpful (honestly). I might have been to harsh, but good damn it... A simulation MUST explain how the simulation works. This simulation is not even close.

It is actually really close. Though this varies from route to route, the detail of the signalling on Dresden Riesa is VERY close to real life. HOWEVER German signalling is very deep, and the route manual would have to be very long to catch all details. And since this is, after all, a game, a line will have to be drawn somewhere. So what is in the manual is what you need to know. And you don’t need to know the purpose of destination boards to play the game, they have no significance in the game.

Imagine if the whole German signal book for all four(!) german signal systems was included. All newcomers would be scared away!!!

So you will get by with the manual. If you want to dig deeper, there are online resources for that.

    Here is an example;

In real life the aspects of the HL system actually doesn’t have a green light that lets you pass the signal. It’s more complicated than that. Green means the next main signal can be passed. Yellow means the next main signal will be red. This takes away the need for having any aspect for passing a signal, the signalling is actually always ahead. A concept which was common in eastern block signalling, but unknown in western european countries. What….green does not mean you can pass? No, if a signal is anything but red, it changes status from being a main signal to being a distant signal. but for the purposes of getting started in TSC on the very few routes that has HL signaling, knowing the deep concepts of eastern block signalling are too deep. So the deep concept of the HL system is that it will only tell you where to stop and otherwise how fast you can drive. You can get by with a more shallow understanding.

The KS system takes some cues from both HL and Hv signalling, and very succesfully merges them into one of the best and simple signalling systems ever.

I capitulate. Still playing, but no answer on the original question. What does the lowest of the lower plates display? I sort of understand the KS-light signals ((been studying on-line material (so glad I can read german, btw) but those lower plates are mentioned nowhere - if they are somewhere link please), so that IS not the problem. HL signals are "documented" in the route manuals. The KS-signals are are not. If some information on some signals are just cosmetic - why not state it? Is it that hard? One sentence. It's all it takes. And you guys don't seem to know either since I got no straight answer. Not to blame you, but here are aspect unknown for everybody.

What does "P", "R", "N", (and possibly an imagined "L") mean in the screen shots above? If they mean nothing, fine. If they mean something, what?

I already stated “those are destination boards”. Showing a letter of a destination that you are route via. I also explained what are their use IRL and why they are included, but hardly matter in TSC.

Thank you (honestly), but links or fact checks would be appreciated. "I already stated" is commonly used all over Internet and not always correct. Might be a guess or an opinion or factual knowledge or plain disinformation. I'll settle for you being correct in this case and I can ignore the lower plates. They don't seem to matter, but I want to understand what I'm doing.

If stuff don't matter in a simulation it should be documented. Can't be that hard.

Thanks all. Matter closed as far as I'm concerned.

    Why?
And how far do you go with the Documentation?
Should al this be in the documentation for a route https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway_signals_in_Germany#
And how many people would read something that does not affect them?
