    The ultimate ICE 3 Enhancement Pack!

    In mind for almost a year, in planning for a few months and finally slowly started being worked on a few weeks ago, I present to you a new enhancement pack for the ICE 3 in Train Sim World. This EP aims to add more variety among the ICE 3s in the game aswell as fixing some small but very important visual feats.


    Cologne-Aachen ICE 3M (406)
    - added an NS variant
    ---- all DB logos replaced with Nederlandse Spoorwegen logo
    ---- Bordbistro text only displays "Bistro" in blue



    Munich-Augsburg and Kassel-Würzburg ICE 3 (403)
    - rebuilt into redesign:
    ---- marked door borders
    ---- yellow/orange exterior PIS
    ---- blacked out interior PIS

    - added a Redesign-variant with a red stripe:
    ---- same as above but with a red stripe

    Kassel-Würzburg Railbow ICE 3 (403) tiny mapping inconvenience would ruin the whole experience
    - turned into Redesign:

    ---- marked door borders
    ---- yellow/orange exterior PIS
    ---- blacked out interior PIS


    Additional changes which will apply to all ICE 3s if possible for each:
    - newer, more realistic headlight textures
    - "Bordbistro", "Bordrestaurant" and "Deutschlands schnellster Klimaschützer" are in the correct font DB Head
    - removed 1st class floor markings on 2nd class entrance doors

    Substitutions:
    For the redesigned 406, it has an 80% chance of subbing into its non-redesigned counterpart.
    For the 403, things look a tiny bit more complicated:

    Redesign (Red) has a 60% chance of subbing into the route-default non-redesigned DSK ICE 3
    Redesign (DSK) has a 25% chance of subbing
    regular Red has a 10% chance of subbing which leaves the route-default regular DSK ICE 3 with 5%

    Future ideas:
    - blue interior PIS screens retextured to the more modern white ones for redesigned ICE 3s
    - Railbow ICE 3 variants for MAG and KWG ICE 3 each texture mapping does not go well with this one
    - Greenspotting ICE 3 variants for MAG and KWG ICE 3 each
    - Europe-ICE for KAH ICE 3M


    I also already took a few screenshots of the first variant, the redesigned ICE 3 in full red stripe livery:

    I still have many struggles, mainly with the Editor itself, but also due to very limited knowledge I still can not quite figure out how I make variants selectable in Timetable Mode and Freeroam, or how to apply basic changes to the normal ICE 3 that comes with the route (not as a variant). But I will easily figure it out sooner or later, so stay tuned!

    Funny you ask that. raph#6037 and I miiight consider somewhen combining his soundpack and my Enhancement Pack but since none of both is even nearly finished yet, nothing is certain and entirely decided. It's up to the future as for now :)

    I figured out how I can apply changes to the route-default ICE 3s. Simply editing the RVD files in the original plugin folder and assigning my own RVVs into the vehicle view slot already pretty much resolves it. Now the default ICE 3 should also already have the base enhancements (fixed fonts, 1st class entrance markers gone from 2nd class cars etc.)
    Same applies to the headlight textures, which is just slightly different, as I gotta directly reimport the texture. There is still an issue with such, where the texture gets resized from 512² pixels to just 64² pixels, So I still gotta find out what causes this and how I can fix this.

    changes made to planned changelog; removed non redesigned variants as they would be entirely unrealistic after finding all that out when exchanging information with people who know

    For the lowered texture resolution, there's this "Maximum Texture Size" property that the developers can use to scale down a texture while keeping the higher-res original in the source files. Maybe you will just have to set it from 64 back to 0 to get rid of the downscaling.

    Though I think it also gets packaged with a lower resolution so you can't just recover the original texture.

    I also figured out that there is a different way applying the new textures just by seperately cooking them when putting them into the editor without reimporting it on the texture in the content folder of the CIE 3 and then packing them into the correct path which then makes it apply it in-game when loading the mod. Though I still use the reimport method to just make sure how it'd approximately look like when it's finished.
    But thanks for reporting :) I also may try what you said tomorrow

    I decided to stop this. for two reasons:
    half the TSC discord modding chat was now shaming me for stealing headlight textures which I couldve redo on my own. It was a wrong choice and I am sorry but thanks discord people for making me feel like shlt now instead of being a bit nicer.
    2nd is that Nagiphaaa is working on a v2 of her own Ep anyways, and it doesnt make any sense for me to go further when im gonna get hit by a masterpiece of hers anyways (I already know its gonna be better than mine)

    Who cares of them? You have your project and can do what you want with it unless you don't sell it. As long as you give credit to the source, everything should be fine. Maybe even you two could work to together to enhance it? Why not. Don't let other people decide upon the future of your project.

    Well, you could also collaborate with her. A helping hand is always a nice thing for bigger projects.

    I mean you also could decide to do something slightly different than her and give the purpose of this thread a new direction. No need to irreversiblly lock it and stop any potential progess with it nonetheless.
