On a practical level also worth pointing out DTG have stated doing Bakerloo went over budget due to the extensive UE light baking needed for the underground sections and since then they seem to avoid routes with many sub surface stations.
Still have a vivid memory of this. The only time I went to UK, a few months before closure. I loved the rural atmosphere of the area. One of my best railway memories (including the third rail, coming from Folkestone).
