Current system Right now we have one option if you'd like to hop between routes and that is route hopping, a feature that requires you to leave your train behind and load into a different map. Now this could be changed, and I'll demonstrate how. Suggested Changes Route hopping in itself is a nice idea, however it could be expanded further with cross-route timetables and/or scenarios. Let's say we're traveling from Manchester Picadilly with a Class 150 to Cardiff Central. Usually when you reach the end of the map the game simulates driver change by handing over the train to an AI driver. But here comes the neat part! Intruducing transition routes! These are essentially connections between existing routes that connect them. In our case Manchester Airport route with Cardiff City Network. So players load into these (essentially) interactive loading screens or transitions and when the reach the next represented area - maybe a station at the edge of the map - and they're transferred to the route they were traveling to. Conclusion This new system would allow more playtime and greater immersion with the trains and the routes and would keep new DLC's interesting to buy, even if they don't offer any new locomotives because if you have an existing DLC that connect with the new route it would bring a lot more replayability to the game. I understand creating routes isn't in a finger snap and it takes effort, however this would be beneficial for both the playerbase and DTG.
