  1. People criticize DTG endlessly without even once saying they enjoy the product. This leads me to speculate they are here to cause discontent.

I for one am grateful I can enjoy a game that works.

If you want to share bugs that have not been fixed please do on another post.

I can drive every route start to finish and have industry (railroad locomotive and railcar) experience. I give it the seal of approval.

For people wanting to get in this train driving game though it is quite difficult.

Maybe DTG can have a beginner part, maybe some videos and basic tutorials and then a few more to get you into a route. And then get some experience in the route so you find your feet. Driving a train with confidence is not easy. You have to know where you are going and know the signals.

This suggestion might be too late for TSW4. But it should help in development.

I am grateful I can drive the 323s in Glossop. Changing ends is a great thing.

Drivers on passenger services do this day in and day out. When you do it daily you are an expert.
There is so much on Train Sim World to enjoy how could anyone even complain? I don't get it.

I think part of the problem is that everyone’s standards for routes and what they deem acceptable is different. I am not an expert of railroads around the world, so “little” things like incorrect ballast color do not bother me, while they may be immersion breaking for someone else. Thus, 2 people can have very different receptions to the same product. For example, I actually enjoy driving NYT because I just want to drive some fast trains on one of the fastest stretches on track in the US. However, it was poorly received due to the lackluster timetable. If it hadn’t been pointed out to me it was wrong, I wouldn’t have even noticed. And even now, I still play it despite its flaws.
When a route doesn’t meet someone’s expectations, they have a right to be frustrated. Unfortunately, many problems are only discovered once a route it released and people have already bought it. People then expect those things to be fixed. But now, it seems things won’t be fixed unless you pay for a game that you may not even want. I think that is where the discontent lies. Yes, TSW4 is an objectively great deal for the amount of content that is on offer, but if you don’t want new content, only your existing content to be fixed as was promised, you are now out of luck and have to buy it anyway. That’s where the frustration is. I, for one, will be getting TSW4. But I still see why people are frustrated, because their expectations are different from ours. And that’s ok.

  3. Excellent balanced comment without the typical frustration.

So people expect a full timetable?

I see that has been done on the Bakerloo line and many others too. People are unhappy because for example at Manchester they don't see every train from other routes. It is still in development and while you are right people need to consider the fact that to get quality you can't do it all at once.

The problem with today's generation is they want it now and can't wait 5 minutes.

I think this is also part of the problem however your comment makes some good points.

I am happy to offer my support to DTG, they do a good job and bring in the fixes.

This also brings me to my next point.

The complainers never acknowledge that things have been fixed.

I don't have any bugs. The ones I know of are already fixed.

This sums it up perfectly in my view. People that are critical tend to be because they want the product to be better. The op had the nerve to call people entitled when they had valid complaints with tsw 4. It's not that people don't enjoy tsw when they are critical, but that when there are issues after issues after issues, it will rightfully get people frustrated and these issues tend to be found after the release of a product.

The op fails to understand that DTG reassured players of fixes that never materialized like the tsw 2 updates or updates to older routes. Not everyone wants to buy the next shiny new toy. The whole idea of tsw is to get content that we want or may like. So if we want fixes to older content, that will now be stuck behind a paywall. Which would mean spending money on a route one may not even be interested in. Heck, scenario planner and livery designer 2.0 were announced during tsw2, quietly suspended only to be put behind a paywall when there are just merely updates to a feature we already have.

People have different standards and whilst I do enjoy playing tsw, I'm not gonna remain silent if I feel like DTG's business practices are not good and there is issues that I've seen. The op may not experience the issues others have. Perhaps he doesn't mind certain issues and that is fine, but others do and have a right to point it out

As for NY-Trenton, since it's a local line, It's pretty clear that it is the worse route dtg have made for tsw3. They literally copied-pasted scenery from newark airport to penn station. At Penn Station there are trains clipping on the platform and due to the huge backlash, they are adding more services. I'd argue the route should've been delayed because now they have to go back and improve a route that came out months ago. Those resources to make a new timetable could've been used elsewhere if they gotten it right the first time.

It's ok to have a different expectations, but to call people entitled just because they weren't happy with tsw4 because they just wanted to have a free core update and have DTG charge for the routes in which they would've still made money and as other non blockbuster games do like Assetto Corsa Competizione does or TSC is not the right way to approach it. You have to look at one's perspective from their point of view even if you may not agree

  6. Want to make it better?

Submit a ticket or make a post in technical reports.

I was calling people entitled because they were all saying they want it for free. Yes in TSC you got free upgrades to the core but that is an extremely old engine and I think they have to. Whereas TSW is entirely different.

TSW3 gave everything for free if you had TSW3. I guess they will continue to patch and fix things for TSW3 for a while.

If you have TSW3 alone that is enough to satisfy. Anything more is just a cherry on top glorious grand delightful!!!! 20230702144234_1.jpg

The bar is buried if being able to drive a route gets a "seal of approval".

As we've already established, we wouldn't be here if we didn't like the series, and wanted it to improve. You do not seem to want the game to improve, at all.

As if nobody submits bug reports...

Gee, maybe there wouldn't be a problem if dtg actually bothered to fix some of the problems that have been in the game for several months.

You definitely have extremely low expectations.

By the way, TSW4 is using the same game engine as tsw3(UE 4.26). It literally has nothing to do with the game engine. Also when they upgraded tsw2 from UE 4.23 to 4.26, that was a free upgrade

The last time I really enjoyed TSW was on Niddertal. 628 in the perfect setting, terminated on both ends and, because of its setting totally justified to make it a one train route.

    But

Thats not a DTG route. The DTG routes so far are more of the same stuff over and over again or they get even worse.
Look at Kassel-Würzburg and at the new britsh highspeed route and compare them to Köln-Aachen and SEHS. The older routes have tons of gameplay, options, and trains, the newer ones not.
It is Train Sim WORLD. There is a reason why the player can leave the cab and change trains. That is what I want to do. Wether to change ends and return with the same train or change plattforms or even yards to get on another train and drive some different destination.
From the new routes the austrian one seems to promise that, but, well I have no interest in the train or the area. So the promise of WORLD is barely met. In the early years I could overlook that, they were testing and getting a foot on the ground, and after London Comuter my hope went up, but since then, nothing really new. Thats why I get more frustrated with this game.

I get loads of enjoyment from playing TSW, but I do think many new routes were pushed out too early last year, most notably Linke Rheinstrecke, which notoriously lacked a vast bit of water texture in the Rhine when it launched - which was actually visible during the reveal stream with Matt and the team, who kept their mouths shut when it happened :') And that's just an example of the graphical glitches. You can't release a game in that state, it's a bit embarrassing.

Still, the graphical glitches can be quite funny, as in FIFA. I'll never understand why so many passengers wear extremely colourful outfits, and so many seem to love baseball caps. Locating their spawn points is also quite funny to me. In fact I dare the devs to include some horror elements hidden in the game ;)

But I also enjoy driving HUD-less, and with all safety systems on. And when those safety systems do not work properly, or when signs are missing entirely, or when speed signs are illegible at night because they don't reflect the train lights, then that does hamper my enjoyment a fair bit. Luckily, most of these bugs have been solved by now, but it usually takes quite a long time.

Long story short, I usually enjoy TSW but when it crashes after 1h+ of driving a route or a red signal that never changes stops me from reaching the last station I want to throw the keyboard thru the window.

Just wanted to add to this, when you mention videos and tutorials for new routes and content, we do actually publish tutorials produced by our ambassadors to our support site with each release - and we will continue to do so with TSW4 :)

  15. I forgot the training centre haha sorry!

I just get these ideas ROFL...

Maybe a dedicated path for beginners so they can have a sense of achievement? Similar to the Mastery and awards etc....
