Well this changes things [edit]... actually, I don't think it will. Rendering a frame in Blender that takes 15 minutes isn't the same as actually animating it in a game in real time using an old DX9 game.
Interesting still. I think in the future there'll be no need to actually build routes (apart from the "logical" tracks the game needs), as the big brother will already have a reasonably detailed 3D scanned model of the whole world. Game developers just pay for a license to use parts of it, and the environment will be streamed onto your local PC, or in the future, your terminal - as more and more we are heading towards the Cloud and away from local storage. You cannot distribute content from Google, even for freeware stuff. Unless you pay them money and have an agreement. But for reference it is ok. Even if it was ok, the amount of textures would be insane. And the topology for the meshes aren't ment for game engines. There are free options to Google, like with the Blender OSM plugin that can import from Open Street Map.
