Steam Impossible To Achieve Platinum On Navigation & Interaction In The Training Centre In Tsw5

It might have to do with the fact that I imported my progress and was therefore unable to do the route task it wanted me to do thanks to it already being done but I can't get to platinum on this module. All I get is 250AP, which is silver

 

Same here, really annoying for a completionist

 

I'm on PC with only the Free Starter Kit. I'm not sure whether its related to a profile import or not. I started a new profile and could only get 250 AP by following instructions.
Well its normally best to follow instructions with training, however, to get platinum with Navigation & Interaction you just need to ignore your instructor while you do your own thing. When he tells you to go sit in the waiting lounge, IGNORE him.
Go through the training centre, out to the train yard, jump on your favourite loco, switch points as needed, maybe do a circuit. By staying under the speed limit, you get 65 AP. Even back & forth in the siding will give you minimum 65 AP. I ran the outer loop in an 8F & got 1650 AP but I don't think we need that much. I just love steam, fog, Hogwarts Express platform 9 3/4. When you have enough points, return to the waiting lounge to finish the tutorial. You do need to understand the basics of loco setup, switching ends, switching points etc, so if you are new to the game. you may want to come back to it after you complete more training.
Let's face it we are here to drive trains not sit in a waiting lounge

 

Thanks for the tip. It allowed me to achieve the platinum on this scenario, yet i still consider it broken from the gameplay perspective. In the next task in the training center rail journey "screen elements" is also impossible to achieve platinum. Any suggestions?

 

Yeah it is possible to complete Screen Elements/Route tasks or Heads Up Display (HUD)/Training to platinum. The same tutorial has a different name depending on where you start it from.

This time we have to IGNORE our instructor & be SNEAKY about it (to be careful not to trigger the marker).

Head over to the other side of the 323 cab, open the far door, step inside, then close the other door (nearest the marker).
All doors must be closed to get the EMU moving. But I just did the standard stuff. Master key in, Reverser neutral, Throttle/Brake to full emergency (in case it was a shutdown situation), then moved back to off, Reverser in reverse. Throttle P1 (reverse). Then into a siding, then change the points, forward into the metro loop. We only need 300 AP. So when you return make sure the right door is positioned beside the marker, and open the right door before leaving the train. Then resume the tutorial as normal.

I don't roll with EMUs so I can't tell you whether any of the above is the correct startup procedure (whether or not recovering from an emergency shutdown). But it worked for me. BTW, I don't use the HUD, coz its an immersion breaker for me as I spend all my time in driver mode (I'm not a very good photographer, train spotter or movie maker), so I hadn't done this one before.

Bottom line, it's more than a little disappointing that the 2 very 1st training tasks, DTG gives its new players in the TSW5 Training Centre, cannot be completed (to platinum) without having to resort to such weird & not-so-wonderful workarounds.
Not such a positive customer experience, when first impressions are quite important. But then again at least DTG are upfront with what new players can expect from each DLC moving forward. This is not a game for completionists.

 

Yeah, i actually ended up installing God Mode and spawning another EMU with which i took a ride around the loop. Fixing this for Dovetail is probably as easy as setting the initial AP to the value equal to platinum in the first place. I suppose it is just a value in a line of code somewhere, as there are several scenarios which are not broken and you start with the required AP.

 

It's been 6 months and DTG still hasn't fixed either scenario.
