A paper form of Route Guide is provided at #11 to help you understand the video method. Hello guys. I dropped my suggestion of Asia Route Suggestion---Hong Kong East Rail (https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...l-4000-words-many-pictures.40958/#post-324456) as I was busy playing with the new DLC we got now. DTG had somehow forgot to provide the manual this time. Luckily, moving the 314 is a easier job compare with 395. With manual or not, the current reply when new player asked [How to drive this route] and recieved [Drive more] are not a good method to encourage more new, casual player to join us. In order to provide more support, I had write 3 guides deeply explaining [How to drive this route]. See the 3 video below. 1: Speed Limit, Whistle and Signal marked clearly. 2: The Brake Point was suggested, which save a lot of time figuring how to stop the train without overshoot 500 yards. 3: These guide not only support daylight action, but also allow you to drive under the worst situation. Sadly nobody actually view these videos--which have more nutrition than people driving and talking--it actually focus on the skill.
It was a real headache to produce these video as we lack of official map lable each waypoint. Hopefully, the improved manual in future can solve some problem However, I still think DTG should, if not by themselves, encourage Youtuber and other video website users create such guide. In real life, you dont just throw the newbie in seat--you need a tutor guide them. One video can be viewed multiple times and with provided paper form note, it was no longer a challenge to drive without HUD--but it require the support from experienced community members.
In my case video are very expansive help, as they are charge by the ISP per Kb, and in videos somethings are always missing either accidentally or to make it shorter, and I mean no insult to whoever is making tutorial videos, but written documentation is by far the best kind of documentation, it is also searchable as opposed to video which can not be searched at all
Totally agree! Videos are alot more interactive and cant beat (personally) a manual, unless its a proper good one. Feel like this should be incorporated into a in-game tutorial (although a bit more in-depth), kind of like and similar to the TS Academy.
Consider there should be a good number of player having enough experience on routes, I feel DTG should at least put up a official playlist on youtube encouraging people to watch or produce them.
Too busy with playing GCC--Good Job for getting me a PEP. This picture shows a 314 with KCR MC EMU Livery with 12-car------Imagine this thing going to 120kph near seaside outside University station. 20210614032545_1 by KCRCRailway posted Jun 17, 2021 at 7:23 PM
Agree. I think they need to sort the manual situation out though. Either do it or not. I think new players would find videos on routes and all the in/outs of stock interesting, combined with other 'advanced' content for players who want the extra mile such as Safety Systems (i know they are in the works at DTG, but still...). Just enables people to learn in a more interactive way. If theres nothing then direct people to where they can get the useful information.
I just think again about this---Video is not [cannot be searched at all] if you lable like [Brighton--00:40]. A paper form are possible (I just didn't paste it on youtube yet) but with simplification (to allow you read while drive) it will easily end up like EBULA or german method of route guide which---without video to explain---is hard to understand. Video is not the final solution, but a easier method to explain a paper guide.

What video can do is to translate the route guide above in a format that you can understand without guessing where you should start action, it is an example, not solution. The paper form is also not a solution, it is suggestion. Following this, anyone can drive the route with reasonable room of mistake (like forgot to brake earlier).
KCRCRailway Your paper route guides look absolutely brilliant. just the right amount of detail. and i think i find easy to use and strop using Hud. keep up the good work. DTG Natster this would be good in the manuals.
Thanks for trying this out---hopefully I could either work out GWE or GCC for next guide---I got enough of Electrostar :p
Attached a Class 465 guide I made some time ago. My guide was made before this post: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/class-465-9-driver-review.40984/#post-321282 In case of any conflicting information I'm wrong. This is something I put togheter to help out Rudolf on his SEHS guide, it might be useful to someone, bear in mind it could have some spelling mistakes and awkward writing. If there is demand I might think about doing something similar for other DLCs but no promises.
Hi, I was doing research about KCR and noticed this reply----I will take a look on what this is, looks interesting (100 times better than the 465 manual in game---what? We don't got one? I guess I will just put a 5/5 then) Update: Turns out the link doesn't work, but 5/5 remain consider DTG didn't put anything for 465 anyway :P
The post mentioned are quite juicy (with interesting information and viewpoints), eager to take a look on PDF
Just read it---I like how the manual related with reality driving, but why it didn't mention about the automatic crusing function?
