Some quick ideas on how to improve dynamic weather: 1). Random weather pre-set when selecting weather, meaning you start a session not knowing what the weather will begin like. Doing so would add a better sense of unpredictability to the gameplay. 2). Rate of change setting/slider. A way to adjust the rate at which the weather changes over time, as currently you can encounter several types of weather over a single play session, which for lengths of less than an hour and/or when driving short distances, can sometimes look rather peculiar. 3). Smoother weather transitions on pre-TOD4 lighting routes. Currently the weather transitions can be visually jarring with sudden changes in light levels and cloud cover. Alternatively, do not have these routes pre-selected to dynamic weather. Any additional ideas and feedback welcome.
Great suggestion, I think Dynamic Weather needs a rethink like with Livery Designer and Scenario Planner before it 1) I agree, I think it will add a bit of anticipation to gameplay, which I think it might make players choose Dynamic Weather rather than Custom Weather. 2) I like this idea, other games have a time progression setting where it changes how long another weather pattern comes in (x1 to x5 for example - x1 being default and x5 being 5 times as fast). 3) Yeah, I think Dynamic Weather does not look the best on TOD3 routes but I'd still allow the option for Dynamic Weather however I would set it to Custom Weather as default.
Yes, I've thought this would be a good idea as well - though personally I'd want to be able to speed things up!
I agree, adding snow alongside rain as an option during winter would be much nicer. Alternatively have a temperature slider, with precipitation turning from rain to snow in sub zero temperatures. That could also work - although I wouldn't use it myself, I'm sure others would want more dynamic weather! I would go for a slow-medium-fast option, whereby slow would be 1/2 as quick, medium is at current speed, and fast twice as quick. Weather changes at the moment seem to happen approximately every 15-20 minutes so going 5 times as fast might be a bit too extreme!
Ah fair enough, it is a lot simpler to simulate as well and since the weather changes quickly, it would be a bit pointless if the progression was at x5 speed
