    Introduction

Hi, welcome to another post in my series "Improving Lineside Industry". I'm going to be looking at various routes in Train Sim World and highlighting what we have, and what we could have, in regard to railways that serve the various industries along them. I find these to be very interesting, and I think maximising opportunities for players to use them in TSW would greatly enhance our game.

I've tried to limit any suggestions to what is just about already within the scope of the route, and might just need some extra modelling of scenery, and perhaps a few new wagons.

It must be said that I haven't been a fan of railways for very long, and I'm from Australia, so I'd love for you to add your knowledge about these far-flung routes and correct anything I get wrong. I have speculated at times, as information can be hard to come by.

(Some of the screenshots here of the in-game map are rather poor-looking as I couldn't do any better with their resolution when zoomed out. Some areas do not have 3D buildings on Google Maps so only some locations will have those images included.)

    Route

In this post, I'll be looking at East Coastway. I believe the route is set in 2020. Here is a map of the route as represented in game, numbered with each location that I will be highlighting.

    Industries

    Location 1

In the north of Newhaven, Day Aggregates load trains with sea-dredged stone and sand by bucket. The site also dispatches ash from the nearby Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility, an incinerator that converts household waste into electricity. In game, players can currently load JNA wagons with an overhead conveyor system (This is not quite accurate to reality, but it must be said that a small sacrifice here has greatly improved playability.). Players could also operate ash trains (I am not sure what wagons are used or whether this is even done anymore.).

    Location 2

In Newhaven's south, Day Aggregates has another terminal. This is also used for the loading onto trains of sea-dredged aggregates. The facility, which is bucket-loaded, was first used in June 2020, which appears to match the time period of the route. Players could arrive with JNA or HKA wagons and complete a complex shunting process to split the train in two for loading, before rejoining the consist and getting the locomotive on the right end for departure.

    Conclusion

I hope this was interesting. Please feel free to add to this and let me know what I've got wrong. Thanks for reading!

Excellent Idea and you are try to rebuild a station where 2C09 ends
This is the Newhaven Marine station where class 313 terminates

Well, the station building itself was knocked over in May 2017.

Thanks for the information and if this proposal were to happen I would see this happen Class 313 if owned or 377/1 377/4 go first then Class 66 afterwards because of how Europe puts passenger train over freight.

The "parliamentary trains" going to the station continued until 22 October 2020 and there was only one service a day (in the evening). I'm guessing the freight trains only showed up once or twice a day so they probably wouldn't conflict like that.
