Introduction Hi, welcome to another post in my series "Improving Lineside Industry". I'm going to be looking at various routes in Train Sim World and highlighting what we have, and what we could have, in regard to railways that serve the various industries along them. I find these to be very interesting, and I think maximizing opportunities for players to use them in TSW would greatly enhance our game. I've tried to limit any suggestions to what is just about already within the scope of the route, and might just need some extra modelling of scenery, and perhaps a few new wagons. It must be said that I haven't been a fan of railways for very long, and I'm from Australia, so I'd love for you to add your knowledge about these far-flung routes and correct anything I get wrong. I have speculated at times, as information can be hard to come by. (Some of the screenshots here of the in-game map are rather poor-looking as I couldn't do any better with their resolution when zoomed out. Some areas do not have 3D buildings on Google Maps so only some locations will have those images included.) Route In this post, I'll be looking at Rhein-Ruhr Osten. I believe the route is set in 2019. Here is a map of the route as represented in game, numbered with each location that I will be highlighting. Industries Location 1 Beginning in the west of the route, just past what is represented in game, Bayer (one of the world's largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies) has a large plant. Spread across the Wupper River, this site receives and dispatches substances in tank wagons. If this extra section of the area were to be modelled, players could shunt Zacns both within its sidings and to and from the exchange yards to the east. Location 2 Heizkraftwerk Wuppertal-Elberfeld was a power and heating plant that was decommissioned just a year before this route's depicted time period but received coal by train for many years. Players could unload Falns here four times a day. Location 3 August Kirberg Stahlservice is a steel fabricator with sidings into their warehouses. Players could deliver and pick up Shimms. Location 4 DUSS Terminal Wuppertal is a facility that transfers containers between trains and trucks. It has two large cranes that straddle four tracks and a road for this purpose. Players can currently shunt Sggmrss between these tracks and the surrounding exchange sidings. Location 5 Westfalen Gas has a siding with unloading pumps east of Langerfeld yard for various gases. Players could shunt Zacns [or Zagkks if they get modelled ... thanks for the tip, driverwoods#1787] into here and attach hoses like the interactive ethanol loading system the game has. Location 6 On the singletrack branch line to Altenvoerde, which is partially depicted in game, BHARAT FORGE operates a rail-served factory. Here they produce a variety of fabricated metal components. Players could bring Shimms, Samms and Eas wagons from the exchange sidings on the mainline. [^ lol]
Location 7 Altfeld is a waste management business with several sidings along the Altenvoerde branch. They send scrap metal onwards for recycling. Players could shunt Eas to and from this smaller southern siding where the branch line passes nearby Ennepetal Bahnhof. Location 8 Altfeld has another larger yard to the north. Players could shunt Eas to the site and arrange them for loading. Location 9 Still on the branch line, Fritz Neuhaus Spedition (a logistics company dealing with paper and steel) has a siding into their warehouse. Players could deliver and remove Habbiins and Shimms. Location 10 Southwest of Hagen, Robert Schmitz Spedition is a company specialising in steel storage and distribution by truck. Players can currently shunt Shimms and take them between here and Hagen's yard. The large shed to the east of this zone was built and a siding added to enter it in 2019. Locations 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16 Around Hagen, there are a further six locations of interest which I have already covered in Improving Lineside Industry: Ruhr-Sieg Nord. Please have a look at Locations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 there for more information. Conclusion I hope this was interesting. Please feel free to add to this and let me know what I've got wrong. Thanks for giving me the shout-out and for an LPG Train these are Zags and Zagkks without the Cryogenic Equipment for LNG. What is inside Wuppertal Langerfeld it needs to have tanktainers on Sggmrss
