Since releasing a US steam loco seems to be at the bottom of DTG todo list.How about releasing a modified UK wagon with a UK couple link pin coupler on one end and a US knuckle coupler at the other.So as to allow the current UK steam trains to pull US wagons/railcars.There could a option added to the senario planner consist options with the various UK steam locos with a inbetweener wagon included.Then you add some US wagons and hook up you steam loco equiped with inbetween wagon to said wagons/railcars. For example. 8F + (uk/us) "inbetweener car". Also add US freight train pull off locos and add your 8F with inbetweener car. And away you go. Should work with other UK locos as well.
We have several options already. The Mark 1 and 2 carriages have changeable couplings on both ends. The (outer) JNA and HKA wagons have one of each type of coupling at the two ends. The Class 66 has changeable couplings on both ends.
