The Intercity 225 is a loco-hauled set which comes with a class 91, mark4 coaches, and a mark4 DVT. It was in service with LNER since the start in 2018 and some have been taken out of service along with the HSTs. It would be on the ECML and would come in 2 liveries: Ex-Virgin Trains East Coast (VTEC) and LNER InterCity The class 91 was built by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL). The mark4 coaches and mark4 DVTs were built by MetroCammel. They entered service between 1989 and 1991 with InterCity British Rail. Over the years they have been with InterCity British Rail, Great North-Eastern Railway (GNER), National Express East Coast/East Coast, Virgin Trains East Coast and LNER. Some have been sent to work with Transport for Wales (TfW). If it was added it would add some variety rather than just IETs and layers from SEHS and MML. It could cost about £10, 12 USD, or €11.50.
I'd prefer to see this train in the InterCity Swallow livery, but I guess the LNER livery looks alike decent enough.
I agree with you! The current ECML should at least have the Intercity 225 as a DLC. I would also like to see the HST in LNER LIVERY.
It’s weird they added trophies for the flying Scotsman, but not the Vectron. I hope they start adding trophies to locos again too.
100% would be great to see the class 91, though I suspect it may be saved as an idea for another section of ECML, unfortunately meaning probably not any time soon.
One way or another it's definitely going to happen. Right from the moment it was revealed alongside the game, the chat got filled with people talking about the 91s. This might be one of if not the most asked for train I've seen in a long time, there's no way DTG can ignore that level of demand for something. I wouldn't be surprised if we had at least an announcement of it by this time next year.
I think it’s important to remember demand isn’t always the reason things show up, I’d probably say demand for a class 91 is higher than a Class 314 for example, but which one is in the game.
i wouldn’t say the wrong one, just demand isn’t that a great deal of a factor for the reason locos and routes are in the game.
The 225s would be great to have to bomb up and down the line and surely are a must have for the route now we have it.
I would love to see these! Personally I think the old GNER livery looks the best on these, but the new LNER Intercity livery is also great!
