At the moment TSW2 has the ICE 3 (BR 403) and the ICE 3M (BR 406). But there are many other types of rolling stock used on ICE services. This is a survey and information thread to find out what the community would like to see next in the fleet. The survey does not regard the routes on which each of these vehicles run on. PS: This video shows most of the ICE fleet (german audio): ICE 1 (BR401) Constructed: 1988-1993 Max. Speed: 280km/h In Service: 58 Cars: 2 locomotives + 12 coaches With these trains the ICE services started in 1991. Even though they are slowly being replaced by newer classes they are meant to stay in service until 2030. ICE 2 (BR 402) Constructed: 1994-1998 Max. Speed: 280km/h In Service: 44 Cars: 1 locomotive + 7 coaches For lower use service the ICE 2 was constructed on the basis of the ICE 1. Regarding the great fear of the cab car derailing due to its low weight, the ICE 2 is only allowed to drive 250km/h when being pushed. ICE 3MS (BR 407) Constructed: 2009-2012 (more in construction) Max. Speed: 320 km/h In Service: 17 Cars: 8 The ICE 3MS is based on the ICE 3M but has a totally new exterior design. They are used on the international services to France. ICE 4 (BR 412) Constructed: since 2013 Max. Speed: 250 km/h In Service: 37 / 50 / 50 Cars: 7 / 12 / 13 Built to carry the ICE network through the next 20-30 years the ICE 4 will replace many of the ICE 1 / 2. Whilst not being very popular among passengers it is more and more becoming the standard for the entire fleet. ICE T (BR 411 / 415) Constructed: 1996-2007 Max. Speed: 230km/h In Service: 59 / 11 Cars: 7 / 5 Built with tilting technology the ICE T is the slowest in the EMU ICE family but increases the average speed on classic lines mainly in South Germany and Austria. It's most commonly used on touristic services. ICE TD (BR 605) Constructed: 1997-1999 Max. Speed: 200km/h In Service: 2 (advanced TrainLab) Cars: 4 This train was the diesel variant of the ICE T. It was used on the international services to København but has been taken out of services due to technical problems and the construction of the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel. Ex-MET (BR 101) Constructed: 1999 Max. Speed: 200km/h In Service: 2 Cars: 1 locomotive + 11 coaches The Metropolitan Express Train was a luxurious business train from Köln to Hamburg. Due to low ridership, the service was terminated and the trains were reassigned to ICE services.
A little self-promotion here. I made a suggestion for Köln-Wuppertal, that would come with the ICE 2 as standard. The nice thing about that route is that it could have all other types of ICE as DLC (except the ex-metropolitan sets). Not all would make sense frequency wise though. I'd like to see the ex-metropolitan sets too, but there were only 2 of them made, which might be an issue.
There are only two of them but they also share many parts with the standard IC coaches. Since the BR 101 doesn't seem to come with the cab car we might get the MET coaches as a loco add-on. To get the IC cab you "just" have to put the cab end from the MET on an existing IC coach.
That would be a nice idea as an IC-expansion set! Another option would be adding the cab car with the BR 120 (which should come with IC coaches too, but they would already have the model for that). Adding a restaurant car with the BR 120 and cab car would be an option too, then we would have all the IC-essentials in game (1st class, 2nd class, restaurant, cab car, BR 101 and BR 120). I might make a suggestion of the sorts when the BR 101 is in game and we know what we have to work with
ICE 3MS Velaro D DB BR407 basically the second newest member of the fleet. Doing a bit of self-promotion here they can fit into my suggestion Appenweier-Strasbourg Railway .
I voted for the ICE TD, as it would make a perfect "loco" add on for the upcoming Hamburg-Lübeck route, although it is no longer in service it operated on that route in real life... Besides that I'd love to see the ICE 1, but I still have hope that there will be a Hamburg - Hannover route in the future, maybe a bit long for a TSW route, but you'll never know
Just came here to say that the ICE MET is still in service and is going from Berlin to Köln, Frankfurt and Hildesheim
If the BR 401 (ICE 1) comes in the future aswell as RWB (Köln-Wuppertal) it would definitly Layer onto RWB and drive the ICE Service that stops at Solingen
Yes, and if the ICE 1 isn't in game if/when RWB comes to game, the services can be operated by 2× BR 402 (ICE 2) until the ICE 1 gets added. That way, no new services have to be created for the ICE 1, as it simply substitutes, which is a lot easier to do.
