While I was looking at old railway lines on google earth I ended up finding something very special. It was a network rail measurement train which you could see had 2 locomotives at each end, which looked like class 37s. This was at Kingham, a very rural area, so seeing these trains was very lucky. I ended up spending a morning looking through google earth to see if I could find anything else interesting, and I ended up finding alot. Here are 15 things I found on google earth that I found interesting. 1) Measurement train near Kingham. (You can see a slight yellow and orange shade around the locomotives which are most likely from their colas rail livery and 4 coaches. No other trains run along this line that it could be). 2) Class 58 stored in Leicester. 3) 4x Class 86s at Mossend Railfreight Yard with a Class 92 in Caledonian Sleeper Livery hidden behind one of them. 4) Class 442 at Eastleigh maintenance depot. 5) Class 700 in Calais freight yard (Just outside the channel tunnel). 6) LNER Mk4 sets at Landore maintenance depot. 7) Engineering train leaving platform at Eastbourne. 8) GWR Class 319 at Reading sidings. 9) GWR Pacers stored at Bristol coalfield sidings. 10) Class 313 Network rail train at Hornsey depot. Final screenshots on nest message...
11) Class 50 in old NSE (Network Southeast) livery at Eastleigh maintenance depot. 12) Old 1st gen DMU outside York. 13) Old DMU at St Leonards depot. 14) Scotrail HST set at Doncaster. 15) Class 08 in a weird orange freightliner livery in Ipswich. Thats all i found in the time I spent looking around...
If you can find anything else it would be nice to see (if you want to post it here). I only looked around the UK.
Great idea ! The only problem is that my country isn't mapped in 3D ( I'll look at someplace else... )
Not really a weird livery. The Freightliner Group is owned by the Genesee & Wyoming Inc, and any railroad that is owned by them eventually has their stock painted into their corporate Orange and Yellow livery....
I never knew they painted them in the older freightliner livery, or even any freightliner livery surprised they still use them
