Just bought IoW in the Steam Winter Sale so as to have the 484 layer in GWE-R when released as much as anything. I noticed though that when I got to around 20-30yds from any LED or semaphore signal it would go out/black out. I wondered if it was the enhanced signals mod causing it so removed that and then I found that the LED and semaphore signals weren't visible at all!!!! Then wondered if it was the IoW22 Enhancement Pack so removed that to no avail. Is this a known thing with the route? Or am I going to have to go through all my mods trying to find which one is causing the issue..... And secondly...... I notice there are only ever four class 484 units on the line but one of them is numbered 484005....... Is there a unit missing on the route or is it true to life and there are four units on the island but one is numbered 005?
Problem solved signals wise......... It looks like it was this mod which was still in my DLC folder. Once removed signals all work as they should. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/mod-new-sky-for-old-routes.83875/
According to Wikipedia, irl there are 5 units: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_484 I never count them on the route, but maybe one is missing.
It is a bit off topic, but i want to ask what you think about the route. I also have an eye on it for the GWR layers, but most reviews on yt are not very informative. Especially the review from DC 4260 Productions, who is very very direct with his criticism for errors and bugs, is very confusing, given him naming multiple major downsides about this route, just for him to rank it as his favourite in the entire game. So i would like to know if you, or other people, think if this is actually a good route or just the one way to get the 484?
It's a nice but short route, the train itself looks nice, the interior is done very well, but it's overpowered with acceleration and braking, those physics are feeling somewhat weird to me, but I never have been on the real one, so can't compare it. If you only use the lower notches for acceleration and braking it's doable. I really like this refurbished 78 D stock, and I hope we will get the Class 230 also in game (GWR and Transport for Wales). The route itself is pretty good, scenery wise, with good detailing and well done stations. This route is giving me a break from the usual UK routes, because of the different concept, being an end to end route and the fact you can just do the whole route in a short drive. But it turned out, I often do the the trip forth and back, because I'm enjoying it so much. So long story short, I can advice it and the route is cheap compared to others and in my opinion worth the money.
Physics and sounds on the 484 are pretty dire. Some of the route signalling logic is also questionable with clear home signal on to a red section signal.
