This is my suggestion for a extension to the Isle of Wight 2022 route, this being the lsle of Wight Steam Railway that runs from Smallbrook Junction to Wootton. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Facts: Length: 5 1/2 miles (9km) Top line speed: 25mph Station count: 4 Station list: Smallbrook Junction Ashey Havenstreet Wootton -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Locomotives: Southern A1X Terrier Class LMS Ivatt Class 2 Hunslet Austerity Tank Engine Rolling Stock: LB&SCR 4-wheel Compartment Third LB&SCR 6-wheel Compartment Third LC&DR Saloon Composite Push n' Pull set ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timetable overview (RED TIMETABLE): Half an hourly service between Wootton and Smallbrook Junction Ashey services only stop on request Class 484 AI at SMJ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for reading
No more steam, DTG seem afraid to do anything more with it for whatever reason. That said however, I hope this (among many steam related suggestions) means they will look at it again at some point, but that's probably a hopeless affair at this point.
Yeah, I say keep the steam suggestions coming. What else can we do to make it known that abandoning steam was a mistake?
The list of steam locos; W24 Calbourne, W11 Newport, w8 Freshwater, 198 Royal Engineer, 192 Wagoner, 37 Invincible, 2 Yarmouth, 38 Ajax (museum pice now), 41298, 41313 and 2309 Haydock (museum pice) Diesel locos; 235, class 03 D2059, class 05 Nuclear Fred. Ryde pier tram car (single car at current) or as I nickname it a island pacer. Having the Isle of Wight steam railway in game who'd be lovely, it who'd be an opportunity to have a heritage railway in the UK that only uses air brakes and have the western house airpumps going. Nuclear Fred only has vacuum so she doesn't get out much 235 only has loco brakes, D2059 is the thunderbird loco she has had to be rescued but 24 in the past. And the steam railway had newer locos the island line when the class 483s was in service.
Great suggestion. I would also love to see the entire island network as it was at its peak before the enormous cut to route miles was implemented during the 1960s. Just to run a train to Ventnor or Cowes for example. I can but dream.
Route miles on IoW were once impressive for such a small island. Barely even a shadow of its former self today with only 8.5 miles remaining.
It's always nice too see people make suggestions to supposedly "complete the route". It just helps with ensuring that we cna get the nice little short branches that cannot be created as its own route but as a branch that compliments the route with variety. Good suggestion.
