    Hello!
This is a thread for me (& others) so share our custom Irish & Northern Irish (/Norn Iron) liveries we've created in TSW's Livery Designer (LD).

If the livery is also on or from Creators Club (CC), then I'll try to remember to post the CC link to that livery....

    Enjoy!

Great work and well done for coming up with something a bit different. :)

Reminds me of the days, a very long time ago, when I created all the activities that came with Irish Enterprise (Pts 1 & 2) in MSTS.
    Those were the days. :D

Three class 47 locomotives in three different varieties of the hunslet class 101 liveries....

Sadly, i don't think the liveries work overly well on the 47, nor do i think they'd work on a 37.... but considering the 52 is a similar style to the 101, it might just work on that, we'll have to see!

DTG, if you could do a MKII F & DBSO, that'd be very helpful & appreciated.... I'll make i suggestion thread next week.

    Thank you!
Indeed, those were indeed! Can you believe it's almost been 20+ years since we've had a proper mainstream Irish / Norn Iron add on for a train sim that isn't a mod!?

Wonder if Making-Tracks was still around, would they had of released more Irish routes?

Used to love driving up & down the Belfast line, especially with the expansion pack, which I misplaced, unfortunately.

Would love to see some Irish & Norn Iron routes in TSW.... Someday, maybe....

NIR MKII carriage 1990's corporate livery & InterCity livery, 'Bumblebee'

This livery is a recreation of the 1990s NI Railways InterCity livery which was used across NIR's fleet of MKIIs & railcars of the time. Featuring the iconic black, yellow, white & blue colour scheme with tiny NIR logos in the black stripes, along with the wording 'InterCity' on the carriages sides. This iconic livery of the time was nicknamed 'Bumblebee' for it's black & yellow stripes.

Now on Creators Club - https://creatorsclub.dovetailgames.com/creations/136622

No I can't......and I don't want to imagine where those 20 years have gone either :o
Didn't know anything about NI railways before I started doing those activities but, as you might expect, got fairly knowledgeable by the end.
One thing that was great at the time was seeing my name on a product that was on sale in my local PC World.
Still puts a smile on my face today. :D

Yes you should definitely give that a go. (If you don't then I might ;) ). Good luck.

It's been far too long but yet far too short too!

Fantastic! You have a fan, as I really enjoyed the NIR activities.

You might just might beat me to it, as I've still to buy the 52

NIR Class 43 - InterCity 'Bumblebee'
After DTG finally fixed the glitch with powercars of the HST set, i was able to complete the livery & apply the 'bumblebee' & 'green stripe' liveries to the powercars....

NIR Class 43 - 'Green Stripe'
Along with the 'Bumblebee' livery, I couldn't miss-out on doing the livery I had grown up with in my early childhood.... the 'green stripe' livery, named so for it's bright green stripe going down the carriages.

Both the 'bumblebee' & 'green stripe' liveries were inspired partly by the real life livery featured on NIR's rolling stock for that time period (Class 80 & 450), with my own twist of the stripes following the angle of the powercar (similar to IC Swallow on the 225). at the joint, the stripes are like a ribbon that was twisted round, whilst also giving a 'point' like shape for direction & speed.

I had a lot of fun designing these two & I am really, really happy with the results.

    I don't mind having a go at a NR blue Hunslet 52 :)
If I'm successful then it would be best if my colour choice matched yours. What blue have you used in Livery Editor to paint the main bodies? Can you post the livery editor numbers you have chosen? :)

Had a quick play. (Note I have made little effort at correct colour matching and, also, have 'drawn' the curves in very simply just to see what things might look like). Two obvious issues. Firstly the headcode box really mucks up the front. Secondly I haven't, yet, been able to get rid of the Western nameplates. Weathering would help too I think.

Anyway.......What do you think as a first attempt? :) (This is on the Diesel Legends Western. Might have a look at the other version).

Here's a quickly knocked-up Maroon one using your colour palette. (With an attempt at replicating the lower headlight clusters).
Was the roof all-over maroon too? (ditto the other liveries?) or did these locos have certain roof covers picked out in black or dark grey? The western model certainly has roof bits and pieces that could be picked out in a dark colour.

Re the blues used on NI railways. These two pictures show that there were at least three types. (Call it dark, medium and light blue if you wish). I assume that you have put up the palette for two of them (dark & medium?). What do you think the palette of the third one would be?

I think the roof is the same as the rest of the 101s & was painted either dark grey or black. But because of the dome on the 47, I opted to use creative licence & match the cab rood with the body, whilst doing the engine bay roof black, with the exception of the Dark blue one, as shown in the reference image you've shard, the upper cab was also painted black.

My locomotive pallet is for dark & light blues, as there isn't much of difference between the medium & light going by the images i could find between various facebook groups, irish model rail forums & google image searches.

The maroon however, I tried matching it as closely as I possibly could to 80 class no. 69 at DCDR, along with the gold for logos. But the awkward lighting (in both dark & light mode) in livery designer made this far more difficult than it needed to be.

As for your livery, its coming on very, very nicely!

    NIR Maroon N’ Blue

This set of colours is the colours I’ve used on the MKIIA carriages & locomotives, they’ve been attempted to be match as closely as possible to the Maroon N’ Blue livery on the 80 Class railcar at the Downpatrick & County Down Railway (DCDR) No. 69, which is currently going through restoration & refurbishment. I’m also going to be updating the class 484 in Maroon N’ Blue to match these colours, along with any future rolling stock in this livery.

The colours used in this are the same colours used throughout my NIR fleet in ‘RedBull’ livery, please use this as the reference for the colours used without. It is my intention to update the logos & colours of my older NIR ‘RedBull’ liveries to match this in the near future.

Thanks for all the colour charts Tony. They have been very useful.
Very very quick play with a Mk2 coach and have now ended up with this. Starting to look the part methinks (although the Western roof certainly needs some attention). I still think weathering, and a much better NR logo, will make this look more believable. :)

Apparently, my draft reply saved, but I can't seem to find it here..... and the page reloaded *sigh*

    No problem!
Glad they're a use & it's given me an excuse to create a word document with all the colours I've used for reference.

Your western & MKIIAs look like they're progressing on rightly!
    Very impressive.

If it's of any use to you, I've uploaded a bunch of my NIR stuff to CC last night & plan on uploading more over the next few weeks.

For the NIR logo, i created the logo from the square shape, adjusting it with mode two. I created it with out skewing then skewed it once it was grouped (pre 1990s version, for 1990s version, it had to be pre skewed).

    Hope this helps!

Looking forward to see how you progress on with the liveries :)

    In the paint shop....

Fixing the ol' Green Stripe livery on the class 484 which was done in my early days of livery design on the PS4, it's about time I updated the livery to match in with the HST & other rolling stock....

    The old....

    In the paint shop....
Also in the paint shop was the Maroon N' Blue class 484.
Not much changed, just updating the pre-existing colours to the new colours & redoing the NIR logo.

    upload_2024-3-5_2-52-26.jpeg

Also took the opporunity to do some other NIR liveries on the 484....

    Also....

I also updated the colours, logos & door textures on the TfNI 'RedBull' 'Island Line' 484, although I didn't capture it in the paint-shop, here it is on the sidings.... Ignore the white circle, that was an error on my part.

Class 484 in NIR Suburban livery
Taken that the class 484 was already in the 'paintshop', i decided to take the opportunity to do two additional liveries for it! - That being the classic (& my favourite) 'bumblebee' livery & a livery I've not done before, the NIR Suburban livery.....

I'm not the biggest fan of the Suburban livery, however, it's not the worst livery either. Mind, the delivery livery of the 450s I thought were much more stylish!

Since i've no IRL reference to the Suburban livery, I've had to use photos from Google, so, colours maybe not an exact match. I might adjust them at a later date.

I'll also post the colour codes later too, i've got one more livery I want to do first before I do though.

Anyways, enough with the walffling! Here's some 'railshots' of it in the sheds....

Class 484 in NIR 'Bumblebee' livery
Here are some 'railshots' of the fabulous little 484 in the stunning NIR 'Bumblebee' livery.

Gotta say (& yes, i am biased), it really suits the 484, but that's probably down to the 484 having a similar shaping to the 80.

    Enjoy!

Class 484 in NIR 'Green Stripe'
This one is a re-worked livery from a previous attempt from a few years back.

It's one of my others favourite liveries as it's one i grew up with.

Two more retro NIR liveries & a modern NIR livery left, then onto others....

Here's some 'railshots' of the 'Green Stripe' 484,

    Enjoy!

It's nearly been a year since I last posted a livery! - whoops....

Here's a recent one, a Class 170 in the prototype CAF Class 3000 livery from 2003....

An Iarnród Éireann express service to Glasgow Queen Street via Edinburgh Waverley from Leven, running non-stop, bar from Edinburgh.
Something that could've been a reality!
Back when Iarnród Éireann were tendering for their InterCity Railcar fleet, one of the tenders was Bombardier Rail (now Alstom) with their Turbostar line....

    A semi realistic 'what if'....
With Iarnród Éireann looking into the decarbonisation of their rail network & the possibility of expanding the network & fleet, this could become a reality.
An electric InterCity Railcar fleet (or InterCity Railcar Electric: ICRE).
With the need of a fleet that can do both InterCity work & commuter work, & with the Hitachi AT200 being reliable in Scotland, IÉ has commissioned a fleet of 40x 4,6 & 8 car railcars from Hitachi in-conjuction with Alstom.
They are based on the Hitachi AT200, with both OHL & battery systems, as per found on their DART+ Fleet.
The ICRE, coming soon to Creators Club (after some minor adjustments).[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

As 2025 celebrates the 80 anniversary of CIÉ, I'd thought I'd do a special livery for the ICR to mark the occasion....
Standard ICR livery, fading into 'Flying Snail' for the intermediate, then fading into a modified version of 'Tippex' for the other driving vehicle.
Of course, for accessibility, doors are indeed highlighted.
Then finally, a nice wee CIÉ 80 logo.
    Enjoy!
[Yes, i know it's a 170, but using the 170 to represent an ICR until we get one in game]

Since TSW has yet to get any Irish traction, & you canna put any liveries on the 166, I'd thought for the craic, I'll try out the 365....
    Not too bad....
No logos or anything, as it was just too see if i could more than anything.
    Four variations:
    - 2005 Commuter
    - Green Godness
    - Cork Commuter (semi fictional)
    - Arrow (fictional)

A custom livery, which sits close to home for me....
A take on the new DART livery as part of Iarnród Éireann's DART+, but also incorporating a design with the green mental health ribbon & messages of care.
    Those messages Include....
    #MentalHealthMatters

    Here's a good 'What if?'....
What if NIR had decided to go down the electric route back in the 70's?
Maybe we would've got some PEPs (on MKI underframes, of course) instead of thumpers?
    Maybe we've got a bi-mode train?
    Hmmmm....
    Anyways, here's a class 314 in NIR's Suburban & 'Green Stripe' liveries....
    Enjoy!
