I'm currently facing the problem that cooking via the in-built cooking functionality added in TSW5 PC Editor via the way described explained in the tutorial is not working. The cooking process is running fine, and fails - just as usual - and creates the "Saved" folders within the plugin including AssetRegistry.bin file and Metadata, but the data assets themselves are not cooked/within the Content folder. I tried it with different plugins and different types of data assets but it isn't working. I remember that this used to work before, but now it doesn't for me. As I was wondering whether the fault could be on my system anyhow, is anyone else able to cook successfully via the command line as explained by Dovetail and not using muff's cooking patches?
As discussed in my thread, I get a Successful Cooking message when cooking a Formations file and a Cooking Failed message when cooking a Paths file. At the moment it seems like new files cook but existing ones don't. In my case I am assuming that this is linked to a recent upgrade to TSW5 but I could be miles off. Your experience, in TSW5, does seem to be very similar to mine.
The messages of "Cooking Failed" or "Cooking Complete" at the end of the cook do not give a clear clue whether cooked really worked or not. Most of the times, cooks do fail but it actually cooked the wanted files just fine (this seems to be a complete standard thing and even since years - also other people using the Unofficial TSW3 Editor talking on Discord experience the same). But then I also had a few cases, where the "Cook Completed" and it didn't cook files I wanted to. It's weird. Best is to just always look in the Saved folder, whether files did get cooked or not and don't trust too much into the Output Log and these Cooking Failed/Complete messages. However, sometimes the Output Log can give useful information why it did not cook the files specific to the case. But this isn't the case now, as I tried it with several types of data assets and different kind of plugins/mods and it doesn't work for me. Also tried to cook with original plugins as trainsimcz's says it, but still the same problem. It could be due to a recent patch in both of our cases. But I have a question about your problem. What is your setup actually and how do you cook? Because if I understood correctly, you still use the TSW4 PC Editor, right? But with the TSW4 PC Editor you can't cook in the way I explained above because the native cooking functionality was only added with the TSW5 PC Editor. Do you might use the TSW4 PC Editor with any of trainsimcz's cooking patches?
