I like Japan Railway, because of Shinkansen. But is it even possible for JR to be in this game? what do you guys think?

Yeah, it is possible. I thought it would be really difficult because of translations, etc ... but it seems there is quite some documentation in English and I recently learnt that DTG would also consider hiring a translator if necessary.

The hardest part I think is the licensing, as it seems like it is harder for non-Japanese companies to get a JR license than one that is. They never got one for UW's routes in TS Classic, and so far I don't see it happening, at least from DTG, in the near future.

Union workshop has mentioned in a Weibo (Chinese version of twitter) post that they are learning about unreal engine and they are looking to get the Tohoku Shinkansen into TSW2. They posted a picture of the E5 series in a basic UE4 scenario. The link (mostly Chinese) is here: https://weibo.com/unionworkshop?is_all=1

I'm also looking forward to this route, however...
    1. Their Shinkansen route for TS is still developing. It has been like this for over a year. There are progress but they don't seem to be offering any time line other than they are in "later half of the production progress" and "soon".
    2. Looking at the progress of the current 3rd party developers (Rivet, TSG, skyhook, etc.) I seriously doubt whether they are able to catch up with the update speed of TSW2.
    3. I don't know whether dovetail's licensing policy affects 3rd party developers.
