Evening all… Not really much of a gamer….but am enjoying Train Sim3 on my X Box One. Have to say though the graphics are less than impressive. Have an option of getting a X Box Series S from Santa this year, would only be getting it to play Train Sim and possible a couple of the Forza games. My big question is “is it worth it” Are the graphics on the Series S visibly better than the X Box One? Would anyone care to offer an opinion…. The Series X is not an option, too expensive and can’t justify it for all the time I play.. look forward to hearing your comments.. Thanks all..
I will say this as a PC player; For me, the difference between TSW 3 and TSW 4 graphics-wise is not really big, it looks almost the same to me. It basically is if you remove volumetric fog and the new OHLE.
Hi mate, I have both a Series S and a PC and I find myself playing on the Series S more. I only have TSW4 and Forza H 4 installed on it and they both run sweet as a nut and both look and sound better than on the old one I had. Providing St Nick is still making them for 200-250 quid a piece I would certainly say it's worth putting on your Christmas list, as it were one of my best purchases I've made this year.
If you want certain layers, then series s is for you. However, it has been struggling with layers for some newer routes like sehs extended, nyt and ecml. It's why there is a reduced and full timetable.
In theory yes, but in practise mine has been fine so I think the problems only occur if you have loads installed and even then I have got nearly all the British stuff.
If you're looking at both Forza's and TSW then you may need to think about storage space before considering a Series S. Sure, it's 500gb, but when you subtract the o/s (on Series X it's around 120gb) and a combined 265gb worth of Forza games then you're going to be cutting it real fine if you want to add a moderately sized TSW collection on top of that AND have space for any other games you may want to install. I personally don't think the Series S is now a consideration due to the huge sizes of modern day games (for example, you cannot install MS flight Sim + the new COD game together on series S because there's not enough HDD space) but I guess if you're prepared to have a limited collection installed or uninstall content to make way for other things then go for it. Given the choice I'd not buy TSW4 (£40), not buy a Series S (£250), sell my XB1 and controller (maybe £60) and find the extra £60 to buy a Series X (the cheapest I've seen it is £410 brand new). Peace of mind and extra preformance for less than the price of Ride 5....a no-brainer in my eyes.
I upgraded to a series X as it’s a hobby I enjoy so why not, traded in my Xbox One X, few games at Game who had a trade in offer, £250 to pay which was cost of series S so have a look and around especially with any upcoming Christmas deals. If you enjoy the game and play Forza too it’s we’ll worth the upgrade especially
Thanks for the comments guys lots to think about…..I will have a look at see what deals there are on both the s and x…….
I’ve updated from a Xbox One to an Series S and have never regretted. Mine has 1 TB of space, using the Seagate 512 GB memory expansion board. And I have an additional 2 TB USB HDD. With this I’m able to have all my games installed, the modern ones on both SDDs and the older ones of the HDD. There is an newer version of the Series S available with 1TB internal SDD. If you - like me - don’t need 4K it’s an very good choice, especially if money is an matter. If not Series X is worth a look. Problem with TSW is that it isn’t well balanced for Series S, especially in terms of graphic memory. But the difference between playing on an Xbox One or on Series S is so big, beside other advantages like the much more energy saving architecture and the heavily decreased loading times - the Series S needs only 22 sec to boot cold until it’s ready to play.
Thanks bdobronz for the advice…… So the next question although probably stupid as I’m a non techie….would be: I’ve got Sim3 on actual disc for my X Box one, with the new series S do I just need to bin my Sim3 and buy the download of Sim4 or is there a way of getting my existing disc game onto the new Series S? Can it be copied to a HDD to store and then pull onto the series S to play? thanks again guys..
You need to buy it again. I had the same „problem“ with GTA 5 which I had on Disc and need to buy again. Since this was the only game I had to buy again that was okay for me. If you have a lot of games on Discs you should consider buying an Series X. By the way - Sims 4 is worth the buy…
You can raise a ticket with support to get digital keys for the TSW3 routes, you need to send them a picture as proof. I don't believe this will come with the core TSW3 so you would need to buy TSW4 digitially but you definitely don't need to buy any routes you already owned on disc.
