Sometimes I'll try to launch TSW2 so that I can play it, but I'm met with a dialog box stating that an update is being downloaded and installed. I have to wait for this to finish - there's no option to stop/cancel/postpone/etc. Does anyone know how a Steam user can turn this off? The only options I'm able to find are ones related to update timing, there don't seem to be any options to disable auto-updates altogether. I don't like auto-updates in general - I worry that they will introduce new bugs. I'd like to avoid all if possible.
You can't disable auto-updates. You might get away with it for a while if you set Steam Offline mode before it detects that you need an update. This will not work after Steam has detected that the game needs an update (Steam does not allow the use of a game that is known to require an update when in Offline mode).
There used to be an option to stop game updates in steam, don't know why they done away with that option.
