I have noticed sometimes that the train I am driving is stopping without warning and the speedo just decreases until it down to zero and the train stops. Is this an issue with the speed that I am doing or is there something else that I am doing wrong? Thanks
which routes are you experiencing this on? The usual cause of a train stopping is failure to respond to a safety system alarm.
Just the Birmingham Cross Country Line. It might be what you said to be honest. Sometimes a loud alarms goes off and then it sometimes stops. Is that what you mean?
I don't have the Birmingham Cross Country Line but if you do hear an alarm and then the train stops, then yes it's probably because of the alarm. You should maybe try pressing Q if the alarm starts.
On UK routes, a lot of trains have both AWS warnings (long beep) as well as DSD/DVD (rapid beeping usually). The AWS can be seen as the yellow sunflower in the cab as well as an i symbol in the HUD (minimal hud). This can be acknowledged by using the Q key or pushing the plunger in the cab marked AWS. The DVD/DSD warning is audible only and does not give a visible clue. This will usually sound after about 45 seconds if no controls have been touched (brake or accelerator). The DSD/DVD needs acknowledging by pressing E or by pressing the foot pedal.
This is the Driver Safety Device / Driver Vigilance Device which is to prevent the train from running away in case the driver has a heart attack for example. You can disable it by pressing Ctrl+D.
