Thanks very much for your comment Matt. (These are my first ever reskins of a loco and I'm quite happy with them). I based the livery on a more usual ICI private shunter scaling it up for the CL08. I think it suits the larger loco. The trouble is I used the BPO model rather than the TVL one and, as a result, there are no formations for them to use. Typical. Once the Editor (or Formation Manager) is released in full then I will be able to get full use form them. In the meantime I might have to make a No3 shunter for the TVL model so that it can, more easily, use my tankers.
They are looking good mate, that's a shame about the model used, I'm surprised it doesn't have any formations. This is where it would be useful to be able to copy things onto different models.
I guess, shortly, we will able to copy things. Until then I have an idea that I might try (asking others to help who are far smarter than me). Watch this space - either way (By the way my tankers are the other way around. I reskinned the HFP tankers thinking that I could use them on BPO but, of course, that failed miserably. And don't even ask if you can get a TEA tanker in anything other than default livery to show up in Free Roam).
Here's "Angie". With her being a HFP CL08 it means she will be able to pull some tankers in a scenario. Still work to do but it shouldn't be too long before she is uploaded. After that we should see her partner in crime "John W Antill" in-game too.
Angie has now left the Workshop and is trundling off towards the Creative Club Hub. (By the time you read this she will have arrived). I'm not sure that this sounds right but - Have some fun with her
Angie's solemate "John W Antill" has also left the workshop and followed her to the hub. He is also available for download now. Have fun.
Here are both locos having a rest between duties. (Now I'd better create a scenario to give them something to do. Watch this space). Angie is here Creators Club - CL08 Shunter (HFP) "Angie" (DJ) John is here Creators Club - CL08 Shunter (HFP) "John W Antill" (DJ)
Thanks Matt. I'm quite pleased with how these have turned out too. Not that many layers either. The other pair aren't too far away now......but it's much harder to give them something to do at the moment.
Great work there David. 08 wasp stripes are not easy, as I'm sure you found! The first 2 wouldn't look out of place on Tunstead Sidings on Peak Forest. Might have to have a play with them. Dave
The 2 ICI based grey shunters that started this thread up have now been uploaded. No 1 - weathered. Creators Club - CL08 SHUNTER ICI (PBO) "No1" (DJ) No 2 - clean. Creators Club - CL08 SHUNTER ICI (PBO) "No2" (DJ) Have fun with them
Love the little wiped-away dirt over NO1. It's little details like that which truly elevate a livery to my mind. Great job
Thanks very much for your comments guys. They are appreciated. Yes I liked the look of that little bit too. I'm still learning Livery Editor so don't know most of the tricks yet but that is a good effect to use. I would've posted some more photos at this point but, for some reason, I seem to have lost the ability to drag & drop then across from the in-game photos page to the forums. No idea why and it is very annoying. Any thoughts? I have 3 new Greenergy Tankers to upload now. I'd better get on with it David
Here you go. No's 1 and 2 parked up ready for their next call of duty (What a pain in the backside it is trying to find the individual files on your hard drive ) There are a few variations between the two. Weathering, different "wasp" patterns, different colour cab roofs etc After I have uploaded my Greenergy tankers I will finish off a Chlorine tanker that will be quite suited to these two. Enjoy.
Here's an idea, clone the TSW screenshot folder to your desktop. Everytime you take a pic in-game, it will add it to your folder. Much easier to access.
That's a good idea. I'll give it a go. The other 'good idea' is not to have 3-4 projects on the go at once, plus the Xmas Screenshot competition, all open at the same time with me taking screenshots willy nilly.
Hi David just looking over these and they are really good mate,,,you got the wipe marks sorted so ya know that trick I’m also liking the theme as they do fit in nicely with the class and settings. One think I’ve noticed and I feel would add a better look to your name plates. Do you just use a square or are you using the smooth round pill shapes?. A Tip. The way I do mine is use the pill shape the rotate so its level with a square you also pick at the same time this is to keep them in line. Have you name ready in the size you want and the set location desired. Move the two decals and then adjust to the left side looks like it would fit the name neatly or how you want the spacing. I would allow a little bit of leigh way tho to allow the small decals to close in. What I mean by that is once you have done the step setting. The un group the two decals set the square to the length and then copy the end pill shape to move across to the right. You have one layer of name plate. If you want the lining then. Just keep the left pill and square again adjust to fit again and then copy the left pill to the right and then you have a second inner plate. Then you could make a third. I sometimes do this say if using a red plate or black depending on background. The first plate would be Red 2nd then Silver then thirdly the Red again. Then just place ya name or even add some bolts in the corners with circles. Once you’ve done that you can move onto giving them or trying give them a 3D effect using shading and shapes. The next step up from a standard name plate. I’ll have to shoot but I really do like them mate keep it up even tho it sounds like something giving you a problem. I’m having silly issues slowing me down to it’s sad when people are trying to things done but can’t because of major issues out of your hands. Chin up my friend. We all may get there in the end. Together. Lee (TSLP).
I am here for this! Love the ICI 08 gronks. This thread and Dave's are excellent. I'm still working out how to use scenario builder and route planner on the PS5 hopefully with the new formation designer I will one day have my own tankers in game. Im gonna have to put them up in the creation hub when I figure it out .......still learning. In livery design I do have a question, if you can help, how do you keep all the hazard markings on the 08s whenever I go in to reskin one the rear and front hazard markings don't stay applied. Or do you have a top tip for making custom ones?.
Re the Hazard Markings (Wasp stripes) then I would start by placing the automated shape and stretching it to fit the area I want covered. I would then, using Decal Options, apply the shape at a 100% angle and with a depth of 50% (so it doesn't pop out the other end of the loco). Then, if I wanted the stripes to wrap around the sides of the front I would scale the depth back until I got the stripe pattern I wanted. Finally you can frame the stripes using shapes coloured the sames as the rest of the locos body. Usually, with a bit of tweaking, you can achieve the look you want quite easily.
Nice one buddy, I have started work as a soldier in the gronk army. Took me a while to figure out what you meant by the depth of the decal but I figured it thanks for the top tips
