The first one looks a bit cheap to me, but still way better than the peripherals we have for console versions of TSW. I like the build quality of the second one more.
I was thinking about buying the recent Densha for our Switch, seems hard to get hold of though. Anyone on here in the UK have this?
There’s a guy called Dusty who showcases the Japanese sims (and others) and he was using something called the Zuiki (?) controller with his PC on the Ongakukan JRTES sim. However it needed a mod to work with the game and not much use if it can’t be made to work with TSC or TSW. He mentioned Play Asia and Amazon Japan as possible points of purchase but in addition to the unit cost, shipping is going to be expensive then there is customs duty and the courier fee for collecting same. Fine if you haven’t got the wife watching the purse strings, but otherwise a rather expensive peripheral.
When I was in Japan, I don't even recall seeing any controllers, but I also didn't spend much time looking at newer stuff (Was mainly looking for the Densha De Go PSP ports)
I bought the Zuiki controller and Densha De Go! for our Switch during Covid, used PlayAsia and everything showed up to the US in a matter of a few days. With the use of the joystick mapper mod, the Zuiki controller absolutely works, and pretty well. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...d-joystick-interface.61440/page-8#post-784643
hmmm... maybe one day we will see some joint effort by DTG and some HW manufacturer who would create a nice controller for TSC and TSW with enough levers, switches and buttons to handle those games, have decent feel and build... if it is good I am sure ppl would be willing to save money for it?
I bought one last Christmas directly from Amazon.jp. The whole thing costed £120 with postage. What sucks now is that the black version (with Den-Go branding) is being discontinued, replaced by a red and blue version, and the seller no-longer ships to the UK so you need to use a proxy. There's nothing bad about build quality, the feel resembles the controller at Den-Go arcades. I think the only difference is that E233 stalk is made from metal whereas Zuiki is full plastic construction. Another thing to be aware of is that despite the weight inside, it's still just a kilo. You need to use your right hand to push the controller down to prevent it from moving around the desk. I've pumped in 100hr+ since I got it and it still looks good as new. Even if it breaks tomorrow I think I've got my money's worth. This thing completely transformed the driving experience, the precision and fine control are not something you can achieve with keyboard. With P5 to B8 notches this controller is best for JR East Simulator. I also had a lot of fun in BVE5's Tokyo routes. I don't think this works too well in TSW because the P-notches are spring-loaded which doesn't resemble UK and German trains. Overall this is more geared towards EMUs.
