If I purchase multiple dlc routes which share the same station or area e.g. Paddington - Reading, Paddington - Penzance, Paddington - Bristol and then rest of the UK, I would like to drive them seamlessly without returning to the menu. I know it's early and we only have 1 UK route but this will change. This would also work well if you wanted to travel Europe train hopping. Driving different trains across different DLC's without exiting to the menu. In the flight sim world we can fly into multiple highly detailed airports crossing photorealistic scenery but we can suffer from OOM's (out of memory errors) this is due to running out of ram with the 32bit fsx. I can only assume you would have this problem with TS20##. But now we're in the 64bit world this shouldn't be a problem. I know we can stop at 'the end of the line', go to the menu and reload another route just to do say 1 more station to continue your desired journey. But why? What does everyone think? This is where you tell me you already can and I'm talking LOVE in which case I'll go and hide for a bit.
i agree i would buy addition dlc to have a bigger GWE i will love to see the route extended to Swansea, Hereford via Oxford, Penzance via Bristol and Westbury.
I can see a couple of issues with this proposal. BTW this thread might be better in the Feature Suggestions & Proposals folder. If a third party creates a route that includes one or more stations already in an existing route then the issue of licensing crops up. Whilst licensing fees can always be paid it does increase the cost of the DLC. It may well be that a third party wants to create a more detailed representation of one or more stations just as happens with airports but how does TSW decide which version of the station to load if the user is not swapping between DLC by returning to the main menu? I personally can't understand why TSW takes so long to return to the main menu but that's a different issue.
In Fsx you might have photorealistic scenery for the SE, seperate scenery for London's landmarks and detailed airport scenery for Heathrow and Gatwick all from different developers. It's then up to you to prioritise the layer order. This could work with TSW, it just needs a little head scratching. Maybe someone from dtg could say if this is possible.
