So, I am VERY happy with the TSW 5 announcement because of the free starter addition. However, there is a couple things that I was hoping to have cleared up. So for the core updates, will those be available with TSW 2,3, and 4 routes if we buy the standard addition? Also, if we get the free starter addition, if those features are backwards compatible, will we get all of them? My last question is that if we buy a route on tsw 5, for example, the new MBTA route while we have the starter edition, will we have all core features on that route, or will we have to upgrade our edition? Just wanted this cleared up. Cheers!
What features do you mean? But anyway the answer will be like this: with free core update you will get all cores features(like photomode), but all route related features will be for this particularly route(like cities lighting in the night on Dresden - Riesa only).
Features like fast travel, updated map, and conductor mode mostly. I was a little confused by the limited core features thing
I think the conductor feature is dependent on route. Fast travel and 2d map sounds like a core feature, but not 100% sure about the map.
AFAIK fast travel is for all routes, route hopping is only for some of the routes (there is a list in the TSW5 FAQ), the updated map is for all routes and conductor mode is only for some of the new routes and trains (it is not supported by all, also check the FAQ for more info). Dont worry about the "limited core" warning. It is not related to previous TSW4 DLCs ported to TSW5. It is a warning for new TSW players so they know that if they get the free TSW5 Starter Pack that only includes the Training Center then they will not get access to any routes, and this means they will not have access to scenarios, timetables, etc ... which are route specific features. If you want a longer explanation check this thread.
Hi Amtrak_Fan we have a feature list which explains what features are available, split by Free Starter Pack only, New TSW 5 routes, and compatible content (old routes). You can find this information in the Train Sim World 5 FAQ.
