Just Trains Consistent Oom Possible Causes?

I own various Just Trains routes and I’ve continued to experience OOM issues on several of them in very specific locations. Just Trains are kind of known for their poor optimization, however, I can deal with poor FPS, but not constant OOM crashes. Specific examples I’m dealing with include the Chiltern Mainline and Aylesbury extension (although I have similar experiences on Western Mainlines and the Met line). On the Chiltern Mainline, I get an OOM in the same location between Banbury and Lemington Spa in every scenario, in the editor, and quick drive. Clearly this indicates the issue is with the route and not a specific performance heavy scenario or train. Similarly, I experience a consistent OOM near Stoke Mandeville on the Aylesbury extension that is also in the exact location in every scenario, editor,.... I’ve read through and tried many of the suggestions on this forum for general OOM issues like page file, workshop corrupt files, etc. However, these seem to be more aimed at combatting the occasional random OOM, not consistent ones specific to a route. I’ve contacted JT support and to no avail with the usual reinstall and verify files. I talked to others on FB and discord that have experienced the exact same problems as me (OOM every time in the same location on JT routes), but I’ve also talked to some who don’t have any issue. So I’ve concluded that those of us that have this issue must have something specifically wrong in our Railworks installation. Whether it be a faulty mod or patch or a third party addon. Just Trains already have a dodgy setup with their routes since they tend to rely heavily on old Kuju assets and their own "common library". Finally my question is has anyone else experienced this with JT routes? Even if you haven’t or don’t own any of their routes, does anyone know what possibly could be causing this? Any suggestions on any specific actions that could solve this mystery?

Are your computer specs up to running the game?

Currently running a Western Mainline QD with an AP train, on max settings, no problems so far (currently taking a tea break at Reading)

At the start of this scenario you are warned to save often but I've not had any problems thus far.

As Peter said it could well be a hardware issue rather than a JT issue

Definitely. Running a 10700K, RTX 3080, 32GB memory, and have TS on an SSD. I also don't think it's hardware because like I said the crashes happen in the exact same places even in the editor with zero stock placed. That indicates to me some sort of asset problem, but I've deleted and reinstalled endless times at this point.

What graphics card do you have?
32GB of memory makes little difference as the game cannot use all of it

Have you looked in "View Reliability History" (or Event Viewer) to see if there is any error recorded at the OOM crash?
Have you run logmate - any errors?
If you run a Sysinternals app called Procmon and TS simultaneously and post the log file here ie at the time of the crash that could help.
Do sfc /scannow and/or dxdiag (from a windows command prompt) show any errors?

The more Physical RAM that you have installed is a great help in reducing hard page faults (the major cause of stutters in TS20XX).
It also helps in reducing the usage of the paging file I would recommend 32GB as an absolute minimum when running TS 64-bit.
Whether TS uses all of it is immaterial and virtually nothing to do with OOM's in TS.
I ran a scenario the other day and it was accessing 11 GB of RAM (which includes 2.6GB for the OS)- that is why I use 32 GB. With 16Gb installed the PF would almost certainly have been accessed and possibly slowed TS down or caused a few stutters.

Here is my log file at the time of the crash on the Aylesbury route. The errors that seem to be present are "blueprint set not found", "Ribbon not found while loading curves, are all network files in synch?", and "Error calling Initialise function" in reference to several assets.

    From your first post
If you are getting this problem but other people are not reporting it then it might be a problem with your installation

I presume you have purchased BOTH both routes thru Just Trains?
Then go to your Account and download the latest version of both routes.CML was updated about a month back
First uninstall both the CML and the L2A and then reinstall doing the CML first then London to Aylesbury.
The section in the post above "Ribbon not found while loading curves" suggests the files are not correctly installed and the error occurs when a scenario goes over the faulty section

If that does not work contact Just Trains Support about the error especially referring to the errors in the log

I agree with p749 there is something missing in your install,
In the logmate report, these could be indicative of your error
    2021/04/08 12:20:24.772 - [RunTimeError] - Assets\JustTrains\ChilternMainline\NL\RailNetwork\Tunnels\Sieg_Hage_DoubleTrackTun.bin appears to contain invalid data
There are several more of these showing to me that this could be an incomplete install.
As P749 says I would remove the CML plus any extensions from your PC and then reinstall.
One thing to check as I recall there was an installation error with JT CML back in earlier versions:

HOWEVER - Do you have this folder?
    STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\961a55ca-501a-478c-9b0b-b0b732d4b19b
That is the CML main folder and the LtoA route extension should be installed there too.
Do you also have this folder:
    STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\7ee4ee6b-72c9-4608-9a6c-007fd1f30e16 London - Aylesbury [JT]
If YES - What is in it?
That is the standalone L to A route but in the early days when you installed the extension for the CML into TS20XX it could erroneously install this folder as well. If you do not have this folder then all is well with the LtoA extension install.

I do own both the Chiltern Mainline and the Aylesbury extension through the Just Trains site and not Steam. I have already downloaded the most recent versions and reinstalled countless times. For example, just last week I manually deleted all Just Trains content from my install in the Assets and Content sub folders. I then reinstalled only the Just Trains Chiltern and Aylesbury content with the issue still persisting afterwards.

I did have that folder in that location and the only folder within it was a scenarios folder presumably with S8 scenarios that came with it (I do also own the S8 DLC). I deleted it since I do not own the standalone London-Aylesbury version of the route.

One new discovery I made today was that if I spawn into Aylesbury Station a first (through the scenario editor), then I can go south towards Stoke Mandeville without the OOM occurring. It's only when I start at Stoke Mandeville or anywhere south of it and then proceed to travel north I get the OOM in the same location. In fact, I was able to spawn into Aylesbury and travel all the way to London within the editor without any crashes. I cannot do the same if I start south of Stoke Mandeville and head north. The issue seems to be with loading the tile that contains Aylesbury station and scenery, however it loads just fine if it's the entry point for the scenario.

Those scenarios are also intended for the main CML route with the L to A extension, some are duplicated but others aren't installed in the main route folder.
These are the unique ones that might be missing:

If Just Trains Product is causing you a problem contact their support - the response is normally quite good.

If people here are not having the same problems you are then it could be something to do with your setup

I actually did just contact JT support and sent them all the information I've gathered. Surprisingly, I have been in contact with people on discord and on a train sim Facebook group that have experienced the exact problems I have (crashes in the same exact locations), but they too did not know the cause or how to fix it. If I do end up finding a solution, I'll be sure to post it here.
