I was just wondering how people are finding this route. Stock ini file and on ultra I am seeing a 30FPS slideshow. Are the trees killing this route?

    I'm running on a 2080ti.

On console here. I'm not seeing a slideshow. Not saying I don't see any stutters but not a slideshow like I experienced at the launch of London Commuter

I tend to find its where the trees are adjacent to track it drops to ABOUT 25-30FPS yet the remainder of the route will sit around 62fps all day long.

  4. Lowering the sky quality seems to give me a boost back up to 60 fps.

I'm playing on a 3070-laptop using an external 1080p monitor. At 1080p/Ultra with 100% screen resolution, I get 60fps with the usual UE loading stutters. The fps dips down to 30-45fps when coming into Kassel, Fulda or Wurzburg though.

If I play using my laptop's 4k monitor at 4K/High settings, I get a lot more stutters and general fps fluctuates between 30-60fps depending on where I am on the route, whether a train is coming in the opposite direction, etc, etc.

As dangerousdave mentions, lowering the sky quality has quite an effect on fps. I think the sky is where most of the performance is going in TSW3. Back in TSW2, I'd run the game in 4K/Ultra settings and get a 45-60fps experience with less stuttering.

Are we sacrificing performance for skies? How does the sky look if you lower the quality? Can't do this on console.

Here's some shots I just took spawned in at Higham on SEHS. All other settings are maxed with 4k resolution.

    Ultra Sky:

    High Sky:

    Medium Sky:

I did keep the FPS counter in the shots though it comes out a bit small in 4K.

Does it also affect the lighting? I can see the difference between medium and ultra but I think I prefer performance over skies if it only makes the clouds less detailed.

It does have a slight impact on shadows cast by clouds but it's extremely minor from what I can see.

I'm seeing drops down to the 30s range on Kassel-Wurzburg (not counting large yards\stations which are always rough) but not constant and it seems to vary service to service. This seems to be true of all the TSW3 routes, sometimes they run as well as a TSW2 route and other times the performance is really mediocre. Kassel-Wurzburg and Cajon seem more troublesome than the other two.

I run with everything maxed with the exception of Sky which I have back to High. I noticed the same thing SonicScott91 illustrated with his screenshots. Going from Ultra->Very High nets a good performance increase and the minor quality difference from Very High->High was worth the bit of additional fps to me.

In my experience so far some of the worst services in regards to fps tend to be winter ones but again it seems inconsistent as sometimes they are ok. I've been struggling to figure out just what causes these slowdowns, I'm surpised you guys with more powerful graphics cards (2060 here) are having similar fps drops.

I’m noticing a lot of stutter on SEHS Extended on TSW 3 with PS5. I’ve also noticed quite some major assets loading in late on Cajon Pass - resulting in a floating bridge as one example. Kassel Würsburg has been relatively stable though, likely due to the amount of tunnels.

change RTX 4090 FPS VERY GOOD

  13. How good? I'm hearing 160fps on Cyberpunk 2077 @4k max settings, so tsw should be 500+ right?

I have an RTX 2080 Super and on the tree areas, with autumn leaves, that's where I see a 10-20FPS drop in places. I have the same problem on SEHS on the new "Dartford-Gravesend" branch.
Clouds kill performance if set very high, I switched to "High" and it's perfect.
