Just a question, does anyone know which ICE 3 services run at up to 280kmh as the few I have driven operate at no more than 250kmh. Or is it just the ICE 1 services that run at 280kmh as I have driven a few that do have a line speed at 280kmh?
I think only ice1. The ice3 can't go as fast since it's a lighter train so if you go too fast, train could blow off. There's like wind physics or something involved and will give you restrictions according to that. You can go up to 280 but it's for a very short distance and since the ice1 takes a while to accelerate and the up and down gradients on the route, by the time you get to 280, you gotta slow down again.
