I really like this route but recently it will not load and crashes to desktop. This happens in the editor or in the drive menu. here are only 4 free roam scenarios. Steps I have taken. Deleted the route folder, deleted the KCS folder from assets. Reinstalled both. I have all assets required. From logmate it seems to not be able to locate some of these files. Logmate log. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/l733...ey=64vr0icitt4f5k28jm1mvz8t2&st=9v2gn33v&dl=0 Spikee1975 maybe you have an answer?
Don't have that route... RWA? Checking... TSC I see. Oh boy - 1.8GB of assets. Will take time checking these (which of them do I already have, should I overwrite or keep? etc)... hope they're not putting stuff into the Kuju folders.... Critical error in your log (corrupt file) - who says LogMate ain't helpful? (These assets are NOT supplied with the route (It's using VNHRR HiLine template), just checked both archives - but something else by 3DTrains I was hunting for for a long time IS included Powder River Basin here I come) Assets\WJ Sound\Montana Rail Link\TemplateRoutes\Montana Rail Link.bin appears to contain invalid data 2024/04/20 11:05:07.667 - [RunTimeError] - Can't find route properties Also the asset pack (also containing the route) contains different scenery tiles than the route pack... Finished installation (NO installer!), first route pack, then the Asset pack. Removed garbage like bak files, most of the assets I already had. Two vehicles added to the RCAP.
Route is loading fine (I'm only missing some stock repaints for the Freeroam, doing my own anyway. I have a habit of running each new route in a freeroam using the Stevens Pass type Route Inspection consist, double headed GEVOs plus two coal hoppers to collect garbage and a caboose ) I've read about some issues with the "Tomcat" assets (which I chose to NOT overwrite - they were different in size), seems buzz4567 knows about that. Quick advice - remove Assets\WJ Sound\Montana Rail Link\TemplateRoutes\Montana Rail Link.bin, it's broken and harmful therefore. And not needed for the route, but maybe something in the WJ Sound\Montana Rail Link\ assets is referenced by rolling stock used - so TS is loading that asset pack and crashes. I do not even know where that file originates from - it is not supplied with Zawal's MRL. Maybe it was manually added by someone. A forgotten closing tag in the xml will lead to a broken .bin file when Serzing for example. To prevent memory leaks resulting from serializing a broken bin in memory, and allocating wrong amount of memory (a broken .bin can result in an infinite size xml - I've seen that, Ctrl+C saved me from Serz.exe filling up all my HD space after editing a JT template.bin), TS shuts down. Righfully so. Better than presenting you with the OOM error in the midst of playing, which happened in earlier versions. Now, corrupt stuff is rejected at start.
Unfortunately, in projects like these that have been worked on for years and have gone through many iterations with the game versions and asset collections you'll find lots of junk files. There is no real remedy apart from installing the route and its assets in a separate Railworks and start using TS-Tools from there, clearing things up, adding/substituting the required assets from your main install, removing unneeded assetsetc etc. Lots of work on large routes which draw from dozens of provider folders. Here, symbolic links can help you out by 'mounting' a proven complete and OK provider folder into your separate Railworks. Still, it looks better and more detailed than HIS' efforts
Something I do when I remove a route I'm not using is run it thru RW Tools and check the Product Providers it uses. Some will be obvious to keep but others may not be needed any more. I rename those folders with an X in front of the name but leave them in my assets folder. Later I might run a route and find something missing - RW Tools will tell me if its one of those I renamed.
To keep it on topic, the Shreveport Sub route itself and the assets provided in the GoogleDrive linked Asset pack are ok. As for the Tomcat assets, there's a different version around on RWA (updated by buzz?), but nothing critical has changed (only a custom Trackside camera put into a template). rwaday 's issue is with some dependencies on his installation and a broken .bin, which has to be deleted and which I am not sure of where he got that from. 21c164fightercommand You cannot sell a route with that much dependencies as a DLC - that's the advantage of freeware projects. You'd have to either include the assets in the DLC (which means licensing negotiations with the authors of each asset) or cut down variety. As soon as it gets a commercial thing there's trouble ahead. The requirement of a route DLC is that it is self-dependent (except for core ELAP and such). Feather River Enhanced works out of the box, having no dependencies. The sum of assets used in Shreveport is 20-30 GB (guessed). Payware is always more restricted in that respect - freeware projects can use as much assets by other authors as they want, so they can concentrate purely on route building without creating assets or rolling stock. There's already fools that complain that a freeware route has payware dependencies. How'd that be if it was payware?
This is a beautiful work especially for those who appreciate the beauty of this part of the Country the author's commitment to detail. It works fine here btw so the problem is not with the route itself.
I will work on this tonight and tomorrow. I would have thought that by manually deleting the route and associated assets folder it would be as it was on the original installation. I can't open the route in the editor, should I use TS_Tools to do this?
Check what I have written - it's not the route but some of the (co-)dependencies on your system, like that "WJ Sound" montana rail link template which you must delete along with clearing the cache afterwards.
Excuse my ineptness. I went to my WJ sound folder and deleted the WJ Sound montana Railink folder, cleared the cache and restarted CTD. How can I uncheck an asset if I can't open the editor for the route?
No need to excuse - I've got time Again I need a new logmate file - due to the dependencies there can be a "next troublemaker" in your Assets folder which we need to locate.
New log. I opened KCS in the editor. This was a CTDhttps://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/b8i4...ey=zk9zrb202w8nk8g6w3v1ozud3&st=3axbmugf&dl=0
Assets\SHG\Alexandria-Monroe\Scenery\Buildings\US_flexiblerow_01.bin appears to contain invalid data not a valid blueprint: railnetwork\TrackRules\PONtrack.bin Seems your installation is pretty messed up... I've read about a PONtrack.bin in then past. It must be deleted. Google it And Livonia Sub is damaged on your end.
Deleted all. Fresh installation.https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tbky...ey=aesrcob9zfk64l32g57dfrljc&st=qg3a2uqq&dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/69f9...ey=wivlkzldw5rpgrevpmexj4ho7&st=ku8as90p&dl=0

Unsubscribe all - they must be removed from the Routes.
Thank you for all your help. I will work on this later. At least I have a direction to go. I do like this route. Could any of these be Free Roam scenarios I have made that became corrupted?
Unlikely. This corruption happens when TS takes the subscribed zips from the steam folder, inserts the Workshop tags into the ScenarioProperties.xml and places them in the Routes folder. That's why I manually copy WS stuff from the Steam folder to TS and then unsubscribe everything again before starting TS - 100% safe, and no startup delays due to WS syncing. (There's no such thing as TSC WS content updates, so it's not necessary to sync. An update must always be a separate WS upload and subscription) Kuju, m ulatorCore <-- Workshop transfer corruption
