Although I live in the eastern states, please keep the people of Los Angeles in your thoughts as they go through these difficult times. It is truly unbelievable what has happened to that city and I cannot imagine what they are going through. I do have family who live in Los Angeles so please pray for them. Thank you.
It was on the news this morning. 180,000 people have had to leave their homes, many others have lost their homes altogether. I hear it ain't slowing down any time either, at least until the winds change.
I've got a couple aunts in the Santa Rosa area and they're still pretty shaken up from the last fires they had up that way. I'm honestly surprised they haven't moved back to the east coast yet; I think the winters here are the only thing keeping them from doing so. Personally I'd rather be buried in multiple feet of snow than deal with everything burning around me semi-regularly, not to mention the earthquakes that pop up out there.
It always strikes me as ironic that the warmest and ( to most people ) the most desirable places in the US have the most unstable weather, Florida and California in particular. Personally, I wouldn't want to live in either state. Whereas, for the most part, the Upper Midwest, where I've spent most of my life, and which millions of people have abandoned for the " palm trees ", has fairly benign weather, if you can put up with the cold and snow. Of course my heart goes out to the Angelinos who have been hurt or left homeless by these dreadful fires.
I have family that moved to Southern California and is happy to be away from this weather. And yet now they have to send increasingly regular "I'm okay" messages in response to or in advance of wellness checks due to some potential catastrophe happening. But that's an improvement over cold somehow. Luckily, they're away from the fires, though one is keeping en eye on the northernmost blaze and the other on air quality. Best wishes to Canadian Follower 's family and everyone else affected.
My heart goes out to all those who have been affected by the massive wildfires in LA and have lost everything they own. Hopes are they can rebuild as soon as it is possible to do so.
The Drink Brand PRIME HYDRATION LLC has donated $60K of product to firefighters and people affected by the fires, however people are not happy about this due to controversy with the creators' brands in recent times. https://tribune.com.pk/story/252129...0k-worth-of-drinks-to-support-la-firefighters
Nice, exactly what firefighters need, drinking poison ! If they wanted to be really useful they would’ve donated water which is more than needed for them. Honestly and it’s my opinion, judging by the big decrease of sales of their drinks, I think they took the opportunity here to do a free publicity stunt for their junk. I wish them luck to the LAFD battling the fires, and also to the victims.
watched a lot of videos about whats happening, of course for me the most heartbreaking were the vids with ppl trying to save their pets and not always succeeding... there was a vid with this one guy who had two dogs in his house, saved one and later found the other, he was literally dancing in the street out of joy <3
