I think this is the one you are looking for https://www.trainsim.com/forums/filelib-viewzip?fid=27592
I had the route a long time ago - just downloaded the file again. I had forgot how basic the original GWML was with the Kuju Signals with limited information as to routing
It says UKTS_27592, and there is a whole archive of UKTS here so you don't have to deal with TS.com's restrictions: https://archive.org/download/ukts-archive-files-27001-28000 This is what the readme says: Great Western Main Line for Train Simulator 2012 by Keith Ross V1.0 A new freeware route using the core Oxford to Paddington route and assets from West Coast Main Line North and North East Corridor - dependencies available on Steam. Uploaded November 2011 The default Ox-Padd route has been copied and improved with the replacement of the default OLE assets with those developed for WCMLN, track textures have been replaced with those from both WCMLN and NEC, additional assets from both add-ons have been introduced on a limited basis and TS2012 lighting has been implemented on the full length of the route. A small extension has also been added providing access to the platforms at Heathrow Airport's 3 low level stations. PLEASE NOTE; this freeware route was developed initially as a testbed for the new TS2012 features. As a result of this, the route is demanding on system resources due to the increased number of assets, particularly OLE related, and with the use of a very limited number of shadow casting lights. Should you experience frame rate drops, SBHH errors or lock ups please consider lowering game settings or running the sim in legacy mode with TSX switched off. This will install as a separate route; there is no requirement to backup or alter your existing Ox-Padd installation. Existing Ox-Padd scenarios should function correctly on this route if ported over from the Ox-Padd folder manually, although not all of those available have been tested. Further scenarios featuring payware stock will be made available separately in due course. Please report any problems to the author on the UKTrainSim.com forum. The author cannot be held responsible for any problems installation of this route may cause on your system. If in doubt, please do not install this add-on. Thanks and enjoy. Keith
Thanks, no need to remember another new password. Got it from archive.org. Just a note, if you see a black sky, go to World Editor, Object Set Filter and activate RSC\OxPadd, as its skydome is used. (Asset structure was a little different back then, specifically the templateroute has changed. It pointed to core skydome, and when GWML was reworked for RailWorks, they updated the sky, introducing the familiar cumulus cloud bitmap that's still being used today by DTG.) DTG themselves updated the Kuju route too, adding a new skydome and some assets which are found in RSC\OxPadd, this wasn't there at the time Keith did his rework. Originally, it used the Kuju sky with its distinctive blue and high clouds as opposed to RSC's new cumulus sky...
Thanks, guy's you are awesome. Particularly for the archive, TS.com is a pain as I couldn't download it anyway even though I was logged in. I only needed the route for the Berks and Hants v4 route.
I followed the link Bekns had posted, searched for the file and downloaded it without logging in. I wonder if there is a way to mass replace the Kuju Signals with similar UK Pro versions? And is there a way to replace the track - I tried it a long time ago but the points did not always render correctly. Peter
You can make a copy of the tracks.bin file for safeguard and start editing the original, replacing the signals with likewise from the RSC UK Pro versions, or even the AP Signal EP signals of the definitions are the same, i.e. number of links. Same goes for the rail. Just open an enhanced route's tracks.bin in TS-Tools and look for the asset provider and paths to the .bin files. AP's Track EP also comes with a manual to help you performing a in-place substitution? Back in those days, routes and signalling weren't that elaborate and manifold in their selection and use of assets.
Yes, just copy the AP TimeOfDay folder to Assets\RSC\OxPadd (If you haven't done already for GWML). And make sure it is ticked in World Editor! Default RSC GWML sky - less blue
I'm still a bit curious what the actual differences are - or if Keith Ross' changes made it into the version we all got anyway, as he was working for RSC back then as I understand it. And we don't play the Kuju version, the RW/TS GWML is an RSC-enhanced version already, with dynamic lights added and rain effects on the HST and 166. Might be wrong though, but I've a feeling this is the route that we already got. DTG reworked all core routes (OxPadd, NewcYork, BathTemp, HageSieg), added new skydomes and lights. The rework on CajonPass wasn't finished - the skybox (RSC\CajonPass) is not used (though the route icon has RSC clouds in it) and not all locos are fitted with dynamic lights and rain effects. It might be more interesting to see how the original Kuju RS version looked.
Haha, nice - that's "Rush Hour Run"! This is the RS "Oxford - Paddington" route Keith Ross changed, and what became "Great Western Mainline". You really see the transition from MSTS to TS (same coders), the old F4 vertical track monitor which later became the F3/F4 HUD. The only difference between the UKTS and the TSC version I have found is that the TSC version has longer platform markers in places like Paddington for example. So there's no real reason to keep the UKTS "interim" version. What you see there is what you got officially, when the core routes became individual DLC. Funnily, many of these Kuju billboards are still featured in TSW.
I would love to see a complete new build of this set in toadys age with Crossrail, Heathrow and all the other branches to Greenford, Windsor etc.
Closest thing you'll get is the JT Western mainlines routes - I think there's a patch out there that extends the electrification to Reading, but that's about it. https://www.justtrains.net/product/western-mainlines-the-complete-collection
Might be the same as the Great Western Route as the default scenarios can be copied across. The main difference is the OHLE ends at the junction for Heathrow and the Keith Ross version has electrics all the way to Oxford. There is a patch on ATS to extend the wires from the Heathrow junction at Southall but not much work has been done in the past couple of years. The real GW Mainline is electrified all the way to London to Cardiff - just need a similar version in the game.
Hmm. The Keith Ross version doesn't have OHLE at Oxford for me... ending at Heathrow. This is the UKTS_27592 version. While were at it, there's a fine Workshop extension to Swindon set in the BR Blue era, Not.Silent has done some nice scenarios for that one using the Western Hydraulics pack. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=399732174
Two things about it The GWML was electrified mid-2010s. The 801 was offered as a replacement for the 43 (and 91) fleet, but required some decision making and testing. People request an updated version not only to improve graphics but also to run modern overhead electric stock. The current Google Maps imagery shows a couple gantries at Appleford, some of it single track, possibly signal gantries actually. There is really just the usual insurance to allow turning trains at Didcot. Oxford has none. The entire area of connecting lines is diesel, with some 3rd rail sprinkled in. ps. I didn't spot the reason above for this part of the discussion. Anyway. The 2011 version wasn't supposed to be electric. The rest would be speculation so I stop editing.
The Class 91 fleet have spent their entire lives running from Kings Cross to Leeds, York and in the past Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow Central. Some of the class are still in service today with LNER.
My bad - just looked at the route again and no wires. I think it was UKTS 27914 OX_Pad electrified plus 4 scenarios that I must have installed a long time ago. That had full electric running Paddington to Oxford.
So it must be like this. Keith Ross reworked the RS route, his scenery changes made it into the updated RW3 TSX version officially, but to ensure compatibility, DTG did not include Keith's Heathrow addition, so the tracks.bin remained unchanged.
