Running on a PC, lately the simulator often stops responding to keyboard inputs, sometimes for several seconds, which tends to result in emergency braking due to not being able to acknowledge safety systems (very frustrating!). Usually this happens in the free camera view (8), and it seems to happen more often in areas with dense scenery or multiple AI trains. It doesn't seem to be connected to drops in fps or stutters however; it also happens when the sim is running smoothly. The problem includes all keyboard inputs, not even Esc to get to the menu works. Any ideas? Unfortunately it makes the sim almost unplayable in some areas.
It also happens when there's no lag? Wow. This is the first time I have heard of this. Does the keyboard do this outside of TSW?
At least there's no visible lag when it happens. I can look around with the mouse with no problem but the keyboard inputs seem to be disabled (or delayed) for several seconds when I can't go back to the cab view, acknowledge safety systems etc. I haven't noticed it outside of TSW. I could try with a different keyboard just in case it helps.
Perhaps when it happens, hold down the button you want to press until the game receives it. When I first played, I had to do this until I found out that the game was lagging and I had to reduce my graphics.
I had similar issues a long time ago while using Bluetooth keyboard and mouse switched to wired ones and never had an issue since.
Thanks for your input guys (no pun intended!). The odd thing is it happens even with good fps (70+). I have no issues with the mouse, and the keyboard is responding fine to other inputs when this happens (for example adjusting volume). Nevertheless I'll try with a wired keyboard next time I have a chance to play!
