So train sim world has a bunch of different routes across the world, Why not have one in western Canada? The only Canadian route we have right now is the old Oakville route, and that's Canadian National. A western Canadian map would add a new and interesting route to the game. This route would include some famous locations like Banff station, Spiral tunnels, Morant's curve, etc. The Canadian pacific railroad runs this subdivision, now known as the Canadian pacific Kansas city or in short, CPKC. Along with this the rocky mountaineer also runs part of this route, a famous luxury passenger train that runs through the rocky mountains. The rocky mountaineer would add a new type of passenger train to the game instead of a simple commuter train. along with this there is also the Royal Canadian pacific, a luxury train run by the Canadian Pacific railroad from Calgary into the Rockies. I believe this route should run from Ogden yard, Calgary, Alberta. to Golden, British Columbia. While this is a longer route then the normal maps, it is very unique and adds a lot of possible scenarios into the game. there could also be a historic version of the map, from when Calgary had a train station, servicing Via rail (Canada's version of Amtrak). There could be steam engines, early era diesel engines. lots of different time periods to pick, all unique. There are multiple Branch lines, passenger stations, and freight yards along the route that make more scenario options available. The route would be around 300 kilometers long and feature towns, a city, mountains, rivers, bridges, tunnels, and fields, so that the scenery is always changing and not boring. i believe this route has a lot of potential. and as previously mentioned, while the route is quite long, it is mainly forest so the scenery detail is easier. Overall this is a new and unique route that would spice up the game and make a lot of north American people happy, (especially Canadians).
Not sure if DTG can get a CP licence, as we have only seen CN in TSW so far with Oakville. It would certainly be a crowd pleaser though I would prefer to see the earlier era when the VIA Canadian still ran via Banff and Revelstoke.
-CP SD30C-ECO, GP20C-ECO, SD70ACU, ES44AC (including CPKC new livery units), ET44AC (CPKC), AC4400CW(M) needed -Include Spiral Tunnels on route -The Rocky Mountaineer is a must-have for me. -CP restored steam locos for excursion trains are a must-have for this route too. Maybe we could get a 1950s-60s-era Canadian which originally ran on this route until it was rerouted to the CN Yellowhead Pass. This version of the route would also need an FP7 A/B and a couple of other period CP diesels.
Personally I believe 1978 would be a good time for this because this is the year Canadian pacific transferred passenger service to via rail, so we can have both railroads, this also lets the trains be more unique as they are older. The passenger service was also cut in I believe 1990
Great idea. Seeing how beautiful the mountains are on the Mittenwaldbahn make me dream of how good the KHP could look in TSW. I'd suggest Calgary - Field since those are crew change points, if that's too long then it could be Ozada siding to Field.
i would personally love to see something from Calgary into the Rockies, to as far as maybe even golden (yea its a stretch, but its also mainly trees, so it doesn't require the most detail) mainly Calgary because its a nice and big Canadian city that has Canadian pacific headquarters, and is where a bunch of special trains depart from. ex, 2816, the CP business train, Canadian Pacific Holiday train. it is also home to an old via rail/Canadian pacific station now abandoned. the reason its a good idea for Calgary to golden is because it connects 2 bigger railyards, with stations and smaller yards in-between. this route would also offer an easy section, "Calgary and the prairies" and a more difficult section dealing with the tough grades and curves of the Rockies. as a bonus it includes historic and well known places along the route, like spiral tunnels, Morant's curve, Banff, and more. i would mainly just like to see a new Canadian route as there is only the one that is old. this route could even have a bunch of DLC. ex, 2816, the CP business train, CPKC Holiday train. i think it would be cool if there were 2 different versions of the route, a modern day route, running the long Canadian Pacific trains, The luxury rocky mountaineer, Or Something special. Or a more historic version in like 1978 or something. Back when via rail started to take over Cn and Cp Passenger trains. Running the Budd cars with f units and all kinds of of cool diesel power from the 1970s-1980s. (idk if developers or anything even read these but i just think it would be a cool thing to see, cool scenery, easy and difficult scenarios, lots of variety in service. you already got a bunch of American maps, just give us Canadians one more).
